Guest guest
Dear friends, You have all seen the announcement from Tara Prakashana for the distribution of an audio cassette of Sri Palimaru Swamiji - Sri 108 Vidyamanya Tirtha. I would like to give you some supplementary information on it. Those who had seen him in the recent past would know that the Swamiji had bent from the waist down for the past two years or so and was moving around on a wheel chair. His left hand was virtually useless and shaking with palsy and weakness. His mind was crystal clear and so was his energy bountiful as ever. His usual reply to any enquiry about his health was always positive and he was never conscious of his difficulties. One saw from him a living example of how one should live and should die - always engaged in Thathva vada, Loka Samgraha and totally detached from the body. When some of us approached him rather diffidently about making his audio record in a studio, he agreed readily. He had to sit in the studio for a total of around four to five hours - when he was finding it difficult to sit even for 1 - 2 hours normally. But the old spirit asserted itself - and we had the good fortune to see the way he gave a masterly presentation of the subject - Nine gems of Thathvavada. It has so happened that he has been off his previously weak but stable level since then and now he has joined the galaxy of Madhwa saints as a name - which I can only describe as a Prathahsmaraneeya. I hope that all of you will try and get a bit of himself in this tape for your own upliftment and redemption. One realises rather dimly what might have been the joy of those who had lived with Aparoksha Jnanis of the past - and our hearts swell with pride and gratitude that we are Madhwas. I can only repeat what I had added to my free translation of his talk in english, published in Thaapasa, on the occasion of his Peeetharohana Amruthamahothsava on 15 th April. " The translator is painfully aware that the conviction, earnestness, kindness to his fellow men and sincerity of our beloved Guru has NOT been brought out adequately in this translation. May this serious shprtcoming be made up by the grace of the Lord and the blessings of Acharya Madhva amd his parmpara, of which Sri Plaimaru Swamiji is a distinguished saint. " " Acharyah srimdacharyah santhu janmani janmani " NAPSRao
