Yours Agent Sri Sripadaraja Mutt On all the three days Swarnavarnatheertha Vidvatsabha and Cultural programmes from Thirumala Thirupathi Dasasahitya Project are arranged. Sri Sripadaraja the saint of saints as he is known - is no other person than the very incarnation of Sri Dhruvaraja, the son of King Uttanapada. Prince Dhruva at the age of five, aspired to sit on the lap of his father, king Uttanapada. But was denied of this privilege by his step mother Suruchi - who exercised a great influence upon his king Uttanapada and told to Dhruva the prince that he could only enjoy the privilege aspired for, only on being born as her son. Being vexed at this, he was advised by his own mother Suneethi to pray god to accomplish his desire. Accordingly, Dhruva went to the dense forest to offer prayer to Lord Srimannarayana. On the way to the forests, Narada Maharishi blessed him with dwadasaksara mantra for his prayers. Prince Dhruva faithfully and strictly followed the advice and started his penance, standing on the toe of his right leg with holded hands and prayed the lord. During his prayers he preferred to pray with mere eating fallen green lawns and water for some time and continued the penance with mere water for some time. Further his prayers were continued by mere breathing air for some time. When he could not see the lord even at the cost of deep devotional prayers, he stopped breathing and prayed for the lord with holded breath. This was the height of the penance of anybody at the age of five, which is beyond the stretch of any imagination. This resulted in the blocking of the breath of all the divine beings of the other world and having suffered suffocation, the devas prayed the supreme to relieve their suffocation when the lord supreme could not test any further about the boys sincere prayers and immediately came down to the Dhruvaraja's place without even informing his concert Srilakshmi and stood before the boy. However, Dhruvaraja did not open his eye inspite of the Lord standing before him. Thus the lord who was being seen by Sri Dhruva in his inside vision disappeared from his inside vision when Sri Dhruva opened his eyes to see the same form of the lord as was seen in his inner vision. At the sight of the lord, Dhruva was dumb founded and could not speak anything because of over joy. By the grace of mahalakshmi he was able to praise the lord who bestowed him with the kingship of the kingdom for 36000 years after which he was made the emperor of Dhruvamandala for a period of one brammakalpa which is 100 years of Brahma Dhruvaraja now being the kingship of Dhruvamandala placed in-charge of controlling the navagrahas, the kalachakra, etc, and his loka Dhruvaloka is situated 13 lakhs yojana above rishi mandala from where he controls the movement of sun, moon & other planers. Dhruvaraja holds his office of the emperorship of the Dhruvakoka for that period. Since this is an official post - Dhruvaraja thought that he would not be entitled to attain moksha the desired goal of every man. (to know about attributes of God in a disciplined manner during his lifetime in a place designated for the purpose in the universe i.e. Bharata. Accordingly, Dhruvaraja came down to the earth in an amsha and assumed sanyasa to complete his sadana and goes by the name Sri Sripadaraja. Sri Sripadaraja believed in the theory of " Service to mankind is service to God itself " and therefore he did not want the good souls to be deprived of the real truth through which one can attain moksha. To accomplish this he composed song (devaranamas) in the spoken regional language bringing out the entire philosophy leading to knowledge as required to attain moksha and hence he is a great social reformer as he believed that language is no bar for getting knowledge. Before Sri Sripadaraja's times many of the secrets leading to real knowledge were found only in Sanskrit language and some of the good souls who had no knowledge of Sanskrit were deprived of this valuable philosophy. But, for Sri Sripadaraja this bhakthi could not have assumed the present status Sri Vyasaraja, Sri Vadiraja, Sri purandaradasa, Sri Kanadaka, Sri Vijayadasa, Sri Jagannatha dasa, etc, continued his path to uplift the deserving souls. For fear of lengthy write-up about the achievement of Sri Sripadaraja, Sri Sripadarja has distinguished himself by blessing those who take a mere darshan as against the accomposments of their desires with the prayers to kalpavrisksha, kamadenu & chintamani. It is to be noted that Sri Sripadaraja though a sanyasi, is privileged to have a princely dress i.e. he wears a crown, precious stone studded kavacha - kasturi tialka, sreegandalepana (sandal paste applied to his body) and palanquin used the kings, etc. which is not to be had to an ordinary sanyasi. (The ear ornaments studded with precious stones, etc.) Above all he had a knowledge of all the 64 arts and every day 64 special dishes are prepared and offered to his Lord Gopinatha. He is the first saint to enter the brindavan alive at the age of 100 and is still blessing the devotees who come for his darshan. It is therefore proposed to put-up a monument building around the moola brindavanam of Sri Sripadarja at Narasimha theertha, replica of Dhruvamandala. Also to mark the 6th centenary of Sri Sripadaraja, which is to be observed during 2001. The proposed building and allied works are estimated to cost Rs. 10 lakhs at the current estimated market. It is therefore we are putting this appeal before you all haribhakthas to participate in this mega event. You can have more information regarding this in the following addresses.
