ESTABLISHMENT OF DIFFERENCE BETWEEN JEEVA & BRAHMA: (TATVATHO BHEDA, JEEVA

BRAHMARA BHEDHA)

Question: Swamiji, where has Krishna said that there are difference between

jeeva & Brahma even after jeeva has attained Mukthi? Has Arjuna when he was

aparoksha jnanee accepted the difference between jeevathma & paramathma?

Kindly explain clearly.

Answer: First of all, we have to establish that state of jeeva after

attaining Mukthi is real & that many jeevas have already attained that

state. Then only we can discuss whether there is difference between Jeeva &

brahma after the jeeva attains Mukthi. Therefore, it is necessary here a

few words as preface. We have to prove that Mukthi has not been attained by

any body in advaitha system so far in all these creation periods. Among the

advaithese, many are yeka jeeva vadies. They say that there is only one

jeeva & due to his ignorance, we are all going about as the bodies of dead

persons. When he attains Mukthi, all of us will attain Mukthi as the world

will disappear from our view, since samsara is going on in the world that

key person in whom there is real jeeva has not attained Mukthi.

There are other advaithese who are bahu Jeeva vadies. Even according to

them, also no one has attained mukthi. For

1. Advaithies have accepted that easware chethanas like vishnu, siva,

brahma who have been affected by maya are better jnanees than ordinary

ignorant jeevas. Further according to them, Vishnu who is the Guru of

jnaanees should have understood advaithathathva clearly. But even he has

not attained Mukthi since he is sitting as Sarathy in Arjuna's ratha then

how can any one else could have attained Mukthi when the best qualified

person has not attained?

2. Shankaracharya also has written that immediately after attaining, Ikya

Jnana to that jeeva world will disappear & Brahmikya will happen; the

statement that the prarabda karma stands in the way of immediate mukthi is

false.

In aparokshanubhuthi, he has written: uthpanne pyathma vijnane prarabdha

naiva munchathi, yi this you chehruyathe sasthara thathannirakriya

thesdhuna, the has so emphatically. (B 120 & B 121).

Note: From these two points become clear, Shastras vedhantha sastras state

that there is prarabdha karma & samkaracharya agrees that it is said so in

Brahma Sutras. He has said he is rejecting it. This would mean that he

agrees that vedhantha suthras state false things also.

2. Since he is rejecting the statement in Brahma suthra, his opinion are

against the opinion of Brahmasuthras or against the opinion of the author of

Brahma Suthras i.e. Vedavyasa. This is accordint to his own words of

Sankracharya. In the vyakyana of sloka # 103, Sarga # 16, of Samkara

digvijaya prepared by advaithies, the following is quoted:

Meaning: Sankaracharya gained victory in Vakyartha over Veda Vyasa, the

author of Brahma Suthra, who opines that there is difference between Jeeva &

Brahma, & says that dvaitha is the correct meaning of Brahma Suthra gaining

a victory over the original author of suthras & giving meaning of the

suthras which are opposed to the meaning of the original author as correct

is the work of Sankaracharya. There is no point in discussing the honesty

of such a vyakhyana kara. This is supposed to have happened at Kasi.

What is stated in shastras that even when athmaikya jnana Brahmajnana has

been achieved, the prarabdakarma stands in the way of Mukthi is being

rejected. There will be no prarabdha karma after attaining thathva jnana.

For the ajnanees only they say there is prarabdha (false) from this we can

conclude that up till now, none has attained thathva jnana & thereby Mukthi

, even to sankaracharya who is the greatest Ikya thathvopadesaka dheha

connection did not disappear & Brahma Bhava did not happen to him. Both in

yeka jeeva vada & bahu jeeva vada, according to their own words no one has

attained mukthi.

Note: Appaya Dhikshitha has recorded as under " Sukamukthha vamadhevomuktha

he Ethyadhaya sthvartha vadhayeva (B 124) i.e. The statement that Suka

vamadheva etc, have attained Mukthi is only sthuthi para, not actual fact.

1. There is no authority that at least in future one may attain Mukthi.

For all chethanas including Krishna are nithya in the following shlokas

BG 2--12, 17 to 24, 30) In Chapter 9, it is stated that Srushti pravaha

also is nithya. Therefore neither easvarabhava of Vishnu, brahma, rudra,

who are affected by maya nor our jeeva bhava affected by ignorance is likely

to be lost & by Brahma. Ikya jnana, we do not get Mukthi, since no one has

Mukthi by Brahmaikya jnana so far & there is no hope that any one will

attain it in future. Then all of us have to accept some state of Mukthi

(even thugh it may be different from Brahmai-kya but it should be very

pleasant (Sukha Pradha). Since jeeva bhava is Nithya). Jnana that assures

us such a Mukthi (even if that jnana is different from Brahmaikya jnana).

We can not say that let there not be Mukthi for any body for it is against

the opinion of Krishna who says:

BG 4-10: Those devotees of Mine who are free from desires for worldly

pleasures & have given up anger & fear, and believe I am Krishna Supreme

God, surrender to me & become pure by knowledge & tapas attain Mukthi in me.

Krishna adds further that the cause for miserable samsara is not attaining

me (Krishna) (not that Nirguna Brahma is not attained.)

BG 9-3: Those that have not attained Me return to the cycle of repeated

birth & death.

Question: " Madhbava Magagatha ha " means they acquire my likeness,

(Similarity with me) why it should not be considered that many have attained

Brahmaikya?
