Guest guest
I have tried to clarify aspects pertaing to Sankalpa to the extent I understand briefly: aadhya -first Bramanaha- Brahma's (there are several brahmas to come-Refer Sri Raghavendra swami's work Pratas Sankalpa Gadya) Dwithiya Parardhe- second half of Brahma's 100 years. Concept of relativity of time) svetha varaha kalpe- the earth was retrieved by the Lord in the form of a white wild boar. This is the form in Srimushnam as per the dhyana sloka of this temple deity (though the image is a dark saligrama idol). The reference in Acharya's Tantra Sara Sangraha is to Adi varaha form- dark in colour. Dhyana sloka hence varies. I think there is a difference in iconography as well. While the former has all hands, the latter has boar's hooves. The method of destruction of Hiranya of different kalpas were also different- one a hit on the chest, the other on the cheek (Iconographic aspects etc based on a faint recall of SMSO annual of an earlier edition. I could be erroneous)) But the form does not matter for mantra chant as the Bija for both Varaha forms are same. vaivastha manvanthare-grand aeon of vaivastha manu. Names of other manus refer Uttaradi mutt Sanskrit almanac kaliyuge- again refer Pratas sankalpa gadya pratmepade-first leg. see Uttaradi mutt almanac for no of years of this age jambu dveepe- island of jambu (see Bhoogola varnana of Sri Vadiraja ) bharata varshe- not exactly clear to me. others can throw light bharata kande- India is a part of bharata varsha dandaka aranye- it is forest region in parts of Orissa, MP, Maharashtra, Andhra godhavaryaha dakshine parshve- it is a cultural construct. Historically and culturally, south of Godavari is South India. It is called Dakshina ganga- also refer Nadi taratamya stotra of Sri Raghavendra Salivahana sake- era of salivahana king. There are several saka purushas such as Vikramaditya. Names of past nad future saka purushas given in UM almanac Bouddhavatare- latest avatar of the Lord. Hence the ref. Which Buddha etc there have already been discussions in various lists. Refer archives Ramakshetre- again perhaps a cultural construct relating to Ramarajya I am not clear why salivahana sake should precede bouddhavatare The sankalpa makes you eco-conscious and brings about a psycholgical determination As to the appropriate thing in USA, I have no idea. I think North indians chant ganga theere or something to that effect. I'll check and tell Suresh
Guest guest
As per the instructions of the local temple priest here, the following location variables which are applicbale while doing Sankalpa in USA (North America in general) are: Aindra Khande (instead of Bharata Khande) Krouncha Dweepe (instead of Jambu Dweepe) Uttara America prayuktayam ... The other's which pertain to era, year and time will be the same as you would recite if you are in India. Others , please clarify this. Regards Sudhir. > >As to the appropriate thing in USA, I have no idea. I think North >indians chant ganga theere or something to that effect.
