friends regarding a live telephone lecture from

Bangalore in English

on sri Narayana for young people. It is said to be

non-sectarian lecture

suitable for everybody.

I am writing to you to invite

you and other Vaishnavas to listen to a telephone

lecture by

Sri Rangapriya Swami, who is a respected yogi and

acharya

in Bangalore. Sri Rangapriya Swami is a senior

sannyasi

living in Bangalore who is well-known and respected by

Vaidikas of all denominations. He is in the Sri

Vaishnava

sampradaya but has sishyas and followers of all

backgrounds.

His lectures are free from any harsh sentiments or

sectarian

attitudes and he communicates with great beauty the

essentials

of Vedanta.

 

This is the first tele-conference lecture of Sri

Rangapriya

Swami that we have arranged, and we would like many

people

to come listen to Swami's talk. The way it works is

as follows.

At the appointed time, people dial the tele-conference

phone number,

punch the access code, and simply listen to the talk.

To cover our

cost of the conference, we ask a payment of $8 per

family.

 

This talk is aimed at young people in the U.S. such as

you

and me, and will be in English, to make it

intelligible to the

largest number of people here. Would you please try to

listen in? Also, could you spread the word to others

in

the Madhva community, particularly those who have

teenage

and college-age children?

Sri Vaishnava Seva Samithi (SVSS) is delighted to

announce the

first telephone discourse by Sri Sri Rangapriya Swami

of Sri

Ashtanga Yoga Vijnana Mandira, Bangalore. Sri

Rangapriya Swami

is one of the most respected spiritual teachers in

South India. He

is renowned for his absolute purity of heart and

conduct,

expressing himself through a compassion which

transcends

traditional boundaries of class and creed. He is

incomparably

approachable to those who come for advice, looking at

all with an

equal and compassionate eye. Sri Swami is also a

well-known

Sanskrit scholar who is much-sought after as a speaker

by religious

and academic societies of all kinds.

 

Sri Swami has graciously agreed to give a talk on

Sunday,

September 17, at 8:30 AM PDT / 11:30 AM EDT. The talk

will be

conducted over a tele-conference bridge and can be

heard over your

telephone by dialing a number to be provided. Sri

Swami will

speak for about 1 hour. Following this will be 15

minutes of open

Questions and Answers.

 

Note: Sri Rangapriya Swami will be speaking in English

so that

all may listen without any difficulty. This talk is

aimed

primarily at mature teenagers and young adults who are

interested

in some religious thinking. People of all ages and all

religious

backgrounds are invited to listen. Sri Swami is an

excellent

speaker with an immense proven ability to reach out to

youth. Before taking sannyasa, Sri Swami was a

Sanskrit professor

for many years in Bangalore and countless youngsters

have

benefitted from contact with him.

 

The topic for the first discourse is ``Narayana as a

Universal

Idea of God''. The talk will introduce the concept of

God as

expressed by the name " Narayana " and how it is an idea

of

universal applicability.
