MUKTHI NAIJA SUKHA NUBHUTHIHI: DESCRIPTION OF NATURE OF MUKTHI: MUKTHI

SVARUPA NIRUPANA: ESTABLISHMENT OF MUKTHI ENJOYMENT OF SVARUPANANDA OF

JEEVAS

Krishna who known by " MukthAnam paramagathi hi " says that Mukthi is a

purushArtha desired by all. (BG 7-11)

Yathies describing Mukthi which is attained of paramathma do enquire of

paramathma through Sravana manana & Dhyana.

Krishna is showing twice that happiness in Moksha is better & greater than

happiness that can be had through our senses (BG 2-46 & 8-28)

2. Just as the different advantages that can be had from the waters of a

well as all included in the advantages, that can be had from the waters of a

big lake, the happiness that a yogi who attains Brahma includes all

happiness that one can get by doing kamya karma (BG 2-46)

BG 8-28: The yogi who has attained aparokshnajana gets happiness which is

very much higher than the happiness got by another sadaka who performs only

karma as prescribed in vedas (Kamya Karmas). Happiness of jnana yogi

includes, all the happiness of a person that does kamya karma.

The nature of happiness in Mukthi can be understood from the description of

happiness of a yogi who has attained aparoksha jnana of Brahma. Krishna

says:

BG 3-17: The jnani who is interested only in the happiness, he gets when he

actually witnesses paramathma & who is not interested in any thing else, &

feels all other things are inferior to the happiness he gets at he sight of

paramathma, such a yogi who is in samadhi need not leave his samadhi & do

any other karma.

Sankaracharya has written in his bhasya on BrihadhArahya kopanisad that Ikya

of Jeeva & Brahma is like the Ikya of husband & wife during the time they

embrace. The description of embracing of yogi in samadhi with paramathma is

more intensive. For the embracing of husband & wife will be given up if a

big drum is sounded or a big serpent attacks them. But a yogi in samadhi

who has in the embrace of paramathma does not change his position even when

a big drum is sounded or a big serpent attack him. The example of Valmeeki

whose body was eaten away by white ants & ant hill had come up without his

being aware of it. Samika rushi did not change his position in samadhi,

even when parikshith raja put a dead snake round his neck. This Brahmaikya

must be more intensive than Ikya that advaithies say that every one in deep

sleep has Ikya with paramathma.

Even in such condition, Krishna says " Athyanthikam Bhudhdhigrahyam

sukhamveththi " . Therefore only happiness which is very great during which

the jeeva experiencing the happiness is devopd of knowledge of the outside

world & the happiness that has come about by the sight of paramathma is

Mukthi. Dvaithies believe that a jeeva who has become free from ignorance

(avidya) & attained Mukthi will be enjoying happiness much higher than the

happiness enjpyed by the yogi in samadhi, permanently forever. Here is a

clearer description of state of the yogi in samadhi.

BG 6-27, 28: For a yogi whose mind does not go anywhere else but firmly

remains in brahma, he is devoid of raja & thamoguna & papa (sin) happiness

comes & joins him. If we say at this stage, Brahmaikya happens then we have

to say only such an Ikya that does not obstruct the chethana from

experiencing happiness. Such attainment of brahma should be devoid of the

knowledge of the outside world, & that state has come only due to

Brahmadarsana & chethana is interested only in Brahma darshana. In such a

state, Brahma remains different from the chethana. This fact becomes clear

from following sloka: Yogi who is devoid of all other desires & remains

always in the firm dhyana of paramathma, without difficulty experiences the

happiness arising from his relationship with brahma.
