The ArADhana celebrations of bRughvamsha sambhUtha - shrI haridhAsa sAhithya jIrNOdhDhAraka - chIkalaparavi chippagiri xEthrasTha shrI vijaya dhAsaru was celebrated on a very grand scale under the able guidance of shrI shrI suguNEndhra thIrtha swAmigaLu by SVBM & VMS West Coast Chapter at Shri Sathya's place in Cupertino, California on 5th November, 2000. The day long programme was a great feast for pamcha j~JAnEmdhriyas. Not a single minute was wasted without shrI hari nAma smaraNa. As shrI jagannATha dhAsaru says in his aNu-harikaThAmRuthasAra hRudhayadhi rUpavu vadhanadhi nAmanu udharadhi naivEdhyavu shiradhi padhajala nirmAlyavane Dharisi kOvidhara sadhana heggadhava kAyuvadhe phala vidhu bALdhudhake all those present followed the words of shrI jagannATha dhAsaru kAya - vAchA - manasa. The programme started off with yAyavAra sEva. Devotees offered rice, jaggery, vegetables (only those which are permitted during this chAthurmAsya vratha) to dhAsara jOLige. In turn, hari dhAsAs blessed the devotees by giving back 3 portions (3 mushti) of what has been offered to their jOLige (3 indicates a) controller of jAgRutha, svapna, suShupthi avasthAs b) prathipAdhya of praNava [a - u - ma] c) pradhyuMna, anirudhDha, samkaruShaNa bhagavadhrUpAs d) abhIShtAs [karthRuthva - pUjyathva - bhOkthRuthva anusamDhAna] e) thApathraya nivAraNa [Adhibhauthika - Adhidhaivika - ADhyAthmika] and many other things). The offerings to dhAsara jOLige was used in preparing prasAdha. This was followed by shrI viTala - shrI shrIkara dhEvara pUja by shrI suguNEndhra thIrtha swAmigaLu. During the pUja, the devotees chanted vijaya rAyara kavacha, shrI rAyara sthOthra, shrI hari-vAyu- sthuthi, shrI baLiththa sUktha, shrI ambhraNI sUktha, shrI shrI sUktha, shrI puruSha sUktha, shrI viShNusahasra nAma, shrI dhvAdhasha sthOthra. Later on, shrI swAmigaLu performed shrI vijaya dhAsara pUja. Followed by this was a short pravachana by shrI Krishna Pandurangi on the life sketch of shrI vijaya dhAsaru. He brought out the divine mahimAs of shrI vijaya rAjaru. This was followed by shrI hari sEva in the form of alamkAra pamkthi. shrI pradhyumna - anirudhDha - samkaruShana rUpI paramAthma was pleased by 'nUthana' - 'samIchIna' - 'surasOpEtha' - 'hRudhya' padhArThagaLu. The credit for such a delicious food goes undoubtedly to shrI vAdhIshAchAryaru. shrI AchAryaru also treated all the devotees with his bhakthi filled dhEvaranAmAs, ugAbhOgAs & padhyAs from shrImadhDharikaThAmRuthasAra. The alamkAra pamkthi was followed by distribution of prasAdha to all devotees. During the entire session, devotees rendered sthOthrAs, haridhAsara padha - padhya - ugAbhOga - sulAdis. A new entry into SVBM & VMS family Smt. Sandhya Rao enthralled the devotees with bhakthi filled dhEvaranAmAs. She was ably supported by her brother shrI Rajeev SubbaRao on tabla. In the evening session, there was a thArathaMyOktha bhajana programme by SVBM. This was followed by a short and sweet discourse by shrI shrI swAmigaLu on the importance of dAsa sAhitya and dAsya bhava (dAsyathva). " In his discourse, Sri Srigalavaru stressed the importance of dAsya bhava and mentioned that each and every person should approach the lord as 'dAsOham' (which means that we are dAsas of Sri Hari). This way, the lord who has infinite auspicious qualities will be pleased. Sri Srigalavaru said that there are sects of people who think of 'sOham' (which means equal to the lord) which is completely incorrect. Srimadh Acharya himself being the first and foremost dAsa of Sri hari, propagated and motivated the dAsatva by composing the famous 'DwAdasha stotra " and other sarva mUla granthas. Many Hari dAsas have emerged and have shown to this world that the lord will be pleased only if a person becomes a dAsa of the lord. Sri Purandara dAsa, Sri Vijaya dAsa and other hari dAsas have composed many krutis in praise of the lord. These krutis are not imaginative. They are the actual experiences of the Hari dAsas which makes these compositions so unique and powerful. These are 'manthra thulya' and reciting the same with utmost devotion paves the way to shrI hari sAxAthkAra. Sri SrigaLavaru also mentioned that there is no bheda (difference) between dAsa sAhitya and vyAsa sAhitya. How can any one say the light from moon is different from that of Sun? The moon light is the light from the Surya mandala and in the same way, dAsa sAhitya is a reflection of vyAsa sAhitya. Sri Vijaya dAsaru one of the prominent hari dAsa has given us the wealth of his compositions for us to do the sAdhana. The name 'Vijaya' means " Sri Maha Lakshmi " , " Sri vAyu devaru " , and " Sri Indra Devaru " . So the name " Sri Vijaya rAya " is so sacred and it symbolizes victory for sAtvika jeevas. " Sri SrigaLavaru recognized the efforts of Sri Sathayanarayana and Sri Balachandra in uniting the local Madhwa community under the SVBM/VMS banner and for their active role in conducting all the Madhwa relegious activities in the Bay Area. Sri SrigaLavaru conferred the title " Madhwa Samaja Rathna " on Sri Sathyanaraya and " Madhwa Samaja Bhushana " on Sri Balachandra. This event was followed by mahA mamgaLArathi, phala-mamtrAxathe vitharaNa by shrI shrIgaLavaru and sarva samarpaNa. udayAstha pariyanta kRuta karma anubhavavu | madhuhA ninagarpitavO sakala karma || The photos and the video of shrI vijaya dhAsara ArADhana mahOthsava would be updated on the SVBM site within few days.
