Totally a fast of sixty days in one year. There are different modes of considering the conditions for deciding if these days are apropriate for fasting or not). This has to be decided by consulting the panchanga. If shravana star falls on Dashami, Sadhana Dwadashi, shivarAthri & on the day of pitru shraddha, fasting should not be undertaken. According to Sudha, Sri Hari KathAmrutha sAra, it is as follows: namdhivAhana rAthrisADhane bamdha dvAdhashi dashami paithruka samDhisiha samayadhali shravaNava thyajisuvamthe sadhA nimdhyarimdhali bamdha dravyava kamdheredhu nOdadhale shrI madhAnamdhathIRThAmthagaRthana saRvathra bhajisuthiru 19-22 Like giving up fast on Shivarathri, Dwadashi, Dashami, ancestor Shraddha, Shravana Nakshatra, give up illegal wealth; meditate on in Shrimad Anantha Thirtha. udhayavyApinidhaRshapouRNima aDhikayAmavu shravaNavabhijithu sadhanavaidhire mALpa theradhamdhadhali harisEve viDhiniShEDhagaLEnu nOdadhe viDhisuthire nithyadhali thannaya sadhanadhoLagimbittu saluhuva bhakthavathsalanu 19-23 Like fasting on Amavasya, full moon in Adhika month, Shravana coming after 12 hours, Ekadashi, offer all action to Shri Hari; He will grant release. While observing this vrata, one has to be engaged in activities like listening to the bhaghavatha, going on a piligrimage to see Lord Krishna etc...
