It is like digging a well near the river Ganga when one is thirsty. It means that one should never undertake avaishnava vratas. AgneyapurANam says one should never worship yakshas, rakshasas, demons, evil spirits, or goasts or perform vratas connected with such malevolent being; under no circumstances should such beings be worshipped. If such forbidden vratas are undertaken one will have to be born as a dog in hundreds of future lives; one will be born as a chandala. One of the forbidden vratas is Sankatahara or Sankasti vrata. Sri JagannAtha dAsaru in his HariKathamrutha Sara shaN^karAtmajadaityaragati bhayaMkaragatigaLIyalosuga saMkaTa chaturthiganenisyahitArthagaLa koTTu moMkugaLa mohisuvi chakradarAMkitane dinadi tvatpada paN^kajagaLige yaragi biMnaisuvenu pAlisudU shaN^karAtmaja ---------------- You are the son of Rudra, Oh! Vinayaka daityaragati bhayaMkaragatigaLIyalosuga saMkaTa chaturthige enisi--------- In order to give very dangerous & terrible destiny to the daityas, every month, on the 4th day in the Krishna paksha " Sankashta Chathurthi " as a vrata is stipulated. On those days, Vinayaka is present in those vratas, AhitArthagaLa koTTu-------------- You give the desirables from the mere worldly point of view, but in the end, they would create only disasters & unhappiness. You give them the bhogas which are the reasons for attaining hell only. chakradarAMkitana (toru)---------Kindly help me to have darshan of Paramatma everyday who is there with chakra & sankha in His hands. tvapadapaMkajagaLige yaragi biMnaisuvenu pAlipudhU--------------I am submitting namaskArams to be your lotus feet, everyday. I humbly submit before you. Kindly protect me. POINT 2: " SANKASTI VRATA " Having Ganapathy, many perform Sankasti Vrata, on every Krishna paksha Chaturthi. For this, Ganapathy also fulfils their desires either fully or partly; & then in end, grants them hell, because those who perform such vratas are basically tAmasic souls. Why? Those starve till the evening on these days. a.) They pray that Ganapathy is Sarvottamma. b.) They pray that Ganapathy is higher to hari, brahma/vayu and even shiva (his own father)! Devotees have to believe that brahma, viShnu and maheshwara do creation, sustenance and destruction with ganesha's blessings etc c.) Further for the srutis " niShasIta gaNapate.......are the Rik Mantras & for them they do not have meaning towards Paramatma or understand that they denote Sri Hari. They consider that Ganapathy is supreme to Sri Hari & Hara & other devatas. They do pooja treating Ganapathy as Svatantra. Since all these acts are totally against vedic truths & brings greatest hatred towards Paramathma, such pooja is condemned. Actually the sabda " Ganapathy " means Lord ParamAtma Hari only. gaNANAM patiH---devagaNAnAM patiH---hariH Ganapathy is a person who is the master of all devata groups. So, in all those Rik Mantras, only the glorious of Hari are described. mukhyaM cha sarvavedAnAM tAtparyaM shrIpateH utkarShe eva, tadanyatra tAtparyaM syAt.h tat.h avAntaraM iti || mahAvarAhe || All the vedas, & all sabdas whether pourusheya or apourusheya, they speak, & sing only the glorious of Sri Narayana. So the persons who do pooja to Ganapathy as sarvottamma, independent, & superior to Hara & HAri are all acting against vedas & they are tAmasic in nature & to delude them, Ganapathy gives them pleasure, in this path of seva to God. (since sAtvik souls, tAmasic souls have to be sent ultimately to their respective destiny as per their inherent status). Point 2: a.) I bow down to Your lotus feet. Kindly protect me. b.) For those who have tamAsa gunas, Vinayaka in order to make them to fierceful states later, makes them to do " Sankasti vrata " & give the sukha, who is the reason for hell later. Like this, Vinayaka deludes those wicked & tAmasic souls. c.) VinAyaka, please kindly see that I have darshan of Paramathma with sankha & Chakra in His Hands. d.) Vinayaka is the son of Rudhra. In the previous verse in Ganapathi Stotra, Sri Jagannatha dAsaru in Sri Hari KathAmrutha SAra says prANAveshayuta------ which means that Sri Vinayaka is having the Avesa of Sri VAyu, Lord Sri MukhyaprAna, Jivottamma & so was able to write Mahabharatha directly from ParamAtma Sri Vedavyasa. A great devotee of Vishwambhara Murthy. Vinayaka was able to destroy the boons of Rudhra devaru, when Vinakya took avatara as Charudhesna. This Charudhesna had the blessings of Krishna (being the son born to Rukmini). Source: Book on Vinayaka Chathurthi (as per vedas) by Sri T. S. Raghavendran SMSO Sabha Sabha Publication # 78 (Published in the year 2000) Chirtanur (Near Tirupathi, AP) 517503 Shankatahara chathurthi vrata according to the vrata should be performed in the evening only. And if the vrata is done in the evening & eating at night for the first time for the day is not the right thing whoever follows the right shastras. Moreover, according to our shAstras, we cannot eat without offering the neivedhya to Mukhyaprana. No neivedhyas are done to Lakshmi, Mukhyaprana & other deities during evenings & night. Hence one more reason why it is a forbidden vrata. Except Sri Krishna Ashtami, all pujes should be performed only in the morning. That is why, even during KrishnAshtami, we have the pArane or food only in the morning after offering the neivedhya to Lakshmi & Mukhyaprana. We give neivedhya only to Sri Krishna during KrishnAshtami & we take a glass of milk with sugar at night to celebrate Sri Krishna's birth. VINAYAKA CHATHURTHI: When Vinayaka Puje is done on the chaturthi day, actually, it should be treated as 'Harivayugala puja' because paramatma as Viswabara murthy is specially present in that devata on that day. So, naturally, Sri Vaayu devaru's avesha is also there in him, in a special way on that day. (Mandukya Upanishads & Harikathamrutha Saara are the authorites.) bhAratIramaNamukhyaprANA.ntargata shri kR^iShNArpanamasthu
