BhOvaraaha had thread ceremony at the very young age of 5 and joined shrI vaagIsha thIrTha’s ashram for spiritual education. He was very unusual than any other kids. He was not at all interested in any thing attractive to other kids. He showed deep interest in spiritual path and used to spend his most of time in meditation and pooja. His parents were worried that there is no one to take care of them at their old age. BhOvaraaha told them that he would take sanyasa only after they get another son. After a while, the parents got another son and they permitted initiation of sanyasa to BhOvaraaha. Later on this younger brother also accepted sanyasa by name surOththama thIrTha in the lineage of Bhandarakere maTha. At the age of 8, shrI vaagIsha thIrTha initiated BhOvaraaha into sanyasa and titled him as Vaadhiraaja thIRtha. The Guru knew the intellectual strength of the disciple and blessed him to become the most powerful king of the dvaitha vedhantha kingdom and enrich & expand dvaitha kingdom by defeating all others preaching wrong interpretations of vEda and other scriptures. It was almost 150 years after Achaarya Madhva has disappeared from this world. By then, the mayavadins and other preachers have become again powerful. Though the disciples of shrI Achaarya were continuing propagation of dvaitha vedhantha, there was a need of a powerful leader to reinstate Achaarya’s preachings. We will see in the coming parts how shrI vaadhiraaja strengthened the dvaitha kingdom. The last line repeats in all the shlokas. shrI vaadiraaja thIrTha is a great devotee of Lord Hayavadhana, the Lord of pure knowledge and wisdom. shrI vaadiraaja was totally dedicated to Lord Hayavadhana and the relationship between God and devotee was so intense and inseparable. In the coming postings we will see in detail how shrI vaadiraaja worshipped, meditated and prayed the Lord. We can see some similarities here to shrI Achaarya MaDhva’s life. Both parents had only one daughter and were praying for son. They contacted guru and got blessed for son. Prior to the birth, the parents were knowing that the child would be of divine personality and the kids proved that showing unusual interests in the childhood. Both kids convinced their parents that they would get another son to take care of them during their old age. In both cases, the younger brothers also took sanyasa later. We will further similarities as we proceed with the life history. shrI kRuShNaarpaNamasthu B.Gopalakrishna Get personalized email addresses from Mail - only $35 a year! http://personal.mail./
