The poet describes here about the tour of shrI vAdhirAja thIrTha who went around the country twice. shrI vAdhirAja has visited allmost all the holy places of Lord shrI Hari, from the southern tip 'Rameshwaram' to northern tip 'Badarikasrama' and took holy dip in the best holy rivers and holy ponds. The very purpose of this tour is only to enlighten the devotees at thsse places and to establish and strengthen the philosophy of 'tatvavada', and not to get any publicity or 'punya' for self. shrI vaadhiraaja thIrTha had clear knowledge about the importance and sacredness of each places and the deity and created a beautiful work namely " thIrTha prabanDha " , a unique travelogue in Sanskrit literature. In this work, shrI vaadhiraaja thIrTha has prayed the deity of each place with beautiful sthothras, bringing out the local history as per our scriptures. This is a wonderful work, imparting the 'dvaita tathva', in simple words with the blend of poetry and stories. The word 'narahari' is very significant here. Though shrI Vaadhiraaja thIrTha has visited many places where Lord shiva ( or other God) is principle / main deity, shrI Vaadiraaja thIrTha prayed Lord shrI narashimha / Lord Hari residing (rudhranthrgatha) in Lord shiva( or other deity). shrI vaadhiraaja thIrTha clearly brings out supremacy of Lord shrI Hari while praying the deity at each place. You may listen to sthothra of 'thIrTha prabandha', praying Lord Krishna of Udupi through the following link http://www.geocities.com/bgkvarna/Audio/theertha_Udupi.rm shrI vaadhiraaja thIrTha went around the country twice, once at very young age, (of around 13-14 ) and second time around the age of 60. While for the first time, shrI vaadhiraaja thIrTha was very young and his mother could not withstand his separation for a long time. shrI vaadhiraaja thIrTha got done a self idol, of bronze and gave that to smt. Gowri dEvi and got her blessings. This statue is still available at sOde maTha. During these two long tours, shrI vaadhiraaja thIrTha had blessed thousands of devotees and enlightened them through discourses and lectures. There were many miraculous incidents at many places during these tours and name and fame of shrI vaadhiraaja thIrTha filled all the corners of the country. There are many volumes narrating the divine powers of shrI vaadhiraaja thIrTha but we will see only a few of these 'mahima' in the next stanzas. Today " DharmasThala " is a very famous pilgrimage place, but not many know that it is shrI vaadhiraaja thIrTha who established Lord manjunAtha at this place. It was during the period of Devaraja Heggade, the forefather of present Heggade family who was very much influenced by the divine powers of shrI vaadhiraaja thIrTha. While shrI vaadiraaja thIrTha was touring around this place, called as 'kuduma' at that time, Devaraaja Heggade, invited him to come and bless his place and family. Since that place was highly influenced by demi-gods, shrI vaadhiraaja thIrTha did not agree to visit that place. Though Heggade was belonging to 'Jain' religion, he agreed to construct a temple there for daily pooja, to make that place suitable for visit of shrI Vaadhiraaja thIrTha. Then, from the nearby hilly place 'Kadri', shrI manjunatha 'linga' was brought and shrI vaadhiraaja thIrTha placed 'narasimha saalagraama' over that linga , worshipped Lord narasimha, and thus filled that place with divine powers. Since then, due to shrI vaadhiraaja thIrTha's blessings, that place is continuing to be a powerful center though it belongs to rule of 'Jain' followers. shrI vaadhiraaja thIrTha has blessed many devotees belonging to other religions, and we will see some of them later. May shrI vaadhiraaja thIrTha who prayed the supreme Lord Hari residing in all the holy places and sacred rivers, bless us with pure knowledge, devotion and dedication. shrI Hari prIyathAm B.Gopalakrishna Auctions - Buy the things you want at great prices! http://auctions./
