Dear KrishNa bhaktas,

Here is the announcement about the Jnanadoota

program's vision and future plans, that was sent in

PDF format earlier this week. Some of you could not

read the PDF files, so this is being sent as a text

format again.

I want to remark the volunteers at Mahabharatha

Samshodhana PrathisTana have a very far reaching and

noble vision to use the Internet technologies in the

service of study of scriptures and Vedanta. We should

be proud that mAdhva volunteers and community is

spearheading this effort. Please send you comments

and ideas to the list.

In the service of Sri Hari and Vayu,

Vasu Murthy

Mahabharata Samshodhana Pratisthanam (MSP) is a

registered non-profitable organisation based in

Bangalore, INDIA. Its objects are

a. Research and dissemination of philosophical

knowledge and traditions primarily on the Mahabharata

and other related areas

b. To distribute the traditional wealth of

knowledge

to the common man and to bring in the modern methods

of Information Interchange to the scholars of

traditional fields.

c. Conducting seminars and workshops at the

national

level on the Mahabharata and other related fields with

reference to this great epic.

This was started by s/w engineers motivated to learn

and disseminate the spiritual content embedded in the

ocean of knowledge called Mahabharata a.k.a

Panchamaveda. In order to do this, a small association

was launched and later registered in 1997 in Bangalore

as a not-for-profit organisation. Initially, MSP took

up the project of collecting the rare books and

manuscripts related to the Mahabharata and in this

process it found the state of these literary works to

be pathetic and on the verge of death. In order to

electronically restore this and enhance the visibility

of the manuscript contents, it conceived a project in

1998. Recently, MSP has brought out “VYASA” an

eRestoration tool for manuscripts and palmleaves. This

was greatly appreciated by the Oriental Research

Institute, Mysore.(estd 1891). ORI will be signing an

MoU for digital restoration of their huge library of

manuscripts (more than 70,000 rare manuscripts) with

MSP in April 2001.

In late 1999, MSP conceived another project, which is

aimed to become the world largest resource for the

Indian traditional philosophical sciences. This is a

congregation of more than 50 Internet sites to

promulgate the interest in Indian philosophical

thoughts worldwide. In this connection, it has

recently started the educational activities on

Mahabharata and other related fields such as Vedanta

philosophy (to start with Dvaita), Sanskrit education

online under the Virtual organisation called

“JnanaDoota”. JnanaDoota is an International eLearning

center on Indology. Vishwa Madhva Sangha (VMS) has

taken a very active role in supporting the cause of

dissemination of knowledge though Webcasting. We feel

that Webcasting is a very effective way of training

for the global audience. Prof. D.Prahladacharya is the

Chairman of the Executive committee of MSP.

Vision and Short-term goals

· To create a World class knowledge centre for

effective dissemination of different branches of

Indian philosophy with key reference to Mahabharata.

This will be done under www.jnanadoota.org

· To create World’s largest online digital

library of

Indian manuscripts deposited in Oriental Research

Institute, Mysore.

· To spread the Sanskrit language effectively

with the

Internet as the interactive medium and through

production of Sanskrit educational kits. Diploma in

Sanskrit will be awarded at end of course.

· To educate enthusiasts on Vedanta philosophy

with

reference to Itihasa and Gita prasthana in particular.

To start with, we plan to bring out Diploma in Dvaita

Vedanta.

· Create and distribute educational multimedia

CDs and

DVDs.
