Srimad BhagavadGita ch. 01, part III - Pravachana kesari Dr. Prabhanjanacharya * Here is the brief description on Mandukopanishat. Introduction to Mandukopanishat Mandukopanishat is one of the ten principle upanishats. It belongs to the atharvaveda. The name of this upanishat comes from the form assumed by the sage of this upanishat. Varuna once assumes the form of Manduka (Frog) and he is the sage of this upanishat. The main sage of this upanishat is Lord Hayagriva followed by Chaturmukha brahma, Vayu and later Varuna. God in his four forms, Vishwa, Taijisa, Prajna and Turiya is the deity of this upanishat. The main purport of this upanishat is the exposition of " Pranava " . It consists of four sections. Each section gives the purpose in form of prose and the verses followed by these elaborate the same. The other topics that are covered by this upanishat are the process of creation, difference between the different forms of four rupas of brahman, relevance of pranava to these four forms. Final verse says " The knower of truth about Brahman, conveyed by the Pranava in form of the 'sarvaniyamakatva', 'sarvavyaptatva' gunas of parabrahman will get rid of all the miseries.
