Guest guest
Namaskara to all Haribhakthaas. Lakshminarayana teertha or Sri Paadaraja was an erudite scholar in sanskrit and had occupied the pontificate of Padmanabha teertha of Mulabagilu. His Holiness had witnessed the singing of the paasurams of the srivaishnavites at Srirangam and was impressed by the way in which devotion was spread in the lingua franca of the people by the means of tamil songs. The great saint started to compose songs under the nom-de-plume Ranga Vithala and had laid the foundation for the Haridasa movement .(Narahari Teertha had composed songs previously under the pen name Narahari Raghupathi). Sri Padarajaru was the pioneer who introduced the singing of the devara naamaas during the pooja time and the impact of his devara naamaaas is so much felt that even during the ecstatical Radhaa kalyaanaa(even non madhvas) sing the song, Tungabhava banga jo jo,mangallathmaranga jo jo, ranga kripaanga jojo rangavittalane jo jo...... Any dolotsava is considered incomplete without the singing of the above song. The aradhana of the great saint is celebrated today with great eclat by the devotees . Sri Sripaadaraajaantargatah Sri Ranga Vithala Priyataam. Yours in the Service of Sri Harih. Dr.Balakrishnan Basker.
