Guest guest
Shri JayathiirTha Aradana by SVBM / VMS (West Coast) The weekend of July 14th and 15th was very auspicious, especially for Madhva bhandhus in US as the aradhana celebrations of Shri JayathiirTha was held at four different places of US and this is a significant milestone in awakening of madhva community in US. I hope to see many more centers coming up soon with Aradhana functions and pray Shri Lord to bless the madhva community in US with more determination and dedication for the strengthening and propagation of Tatvavada. Here is a brief report from the SVBM / VMS west Coast Chapter. The members of SVBM \ VMS celebrated aradhana of Shri JayathiirTha at Shri Sethuram Pandurangi's residence in Fairfield on July 15th. Though it was a little long drive of 85 miles for most of the members, the celebration went on, in the usual grand scale. Shri Sethuram Pandurangi and family had transformed their house as a mini temple for this occasion and the program started with the prarThana of Lord Narashimha with Shri Nakha stuthi and continued with Shri Vishnu Sahasranama, Shri Venkatesha sthothra, Shri Hari Vayu sthuthi and Shri Sumadhva Vijaya ( first 29 shlokas). Shri Balu continued with the taratamya sthothras and Shri Sethuram Pandurangi chanted the first 10 mangalacharana shlokas of Shrimannyayasudha. The groups continued with the Shri Nyaya Sudha sthothra composed by MadanUru Shri VishNu thiirTha followed by Shri Jayaraja stuthi composed by Shri Sathypriya thiirTha. ( A handout of these stothras was distributed to all devotees). Sthothra parayana was concluded with Shri Raghavendra sthothra and shri Viajayarayara kavacha. Then it was time to know something about Shri JayathiirTha, the legendary scholar of dvaitha vedantha. We are blessed to have Shri Madhavarao Padaki, with us on this occassion. A senior citizen( 82 years) blended with deep devotion and knowledge, yet very humble and simple, Shri Madhava Rao started his talk with the a verse from Shri Vijayarayara Kavachaa " suraru ellaru ivara karava pidiyutha, taraLanandadi hinde thiruguthirparo " . Shri Padaki explained in very simple words how great our acharyas and haridasas are and stressed upon the point that it is only by their blessings we may get higher knowledge and devotion. Shri Padaki then started narrating life history of Shri JayathiirTha. To make it more impressive, Smt Subha Sheshagiri sang the song " dhayadi paliso jayathiirTharaya ... " , composed by Shri Vyasa vittal. In this song, the full life history of Shri JayathirTha is beautifully explained in lay man's wordings and Shri Padaki made it very nice and memorable with many illustrations. In between Shri padaki spoke in English for few minutes for the benefit of non kannadiga devotees. Shri Padaki also highlighted that praying Shri Acharya Madhva is befitting to all occasions and he narrated few incidents in the life history of Shri Acharya Madhva illustrating his supremacy in Jnana and 'bala'(power). Before concluding Shri Padaki expressed his gratitude to great scholars in 'Pandurangi' family and recollected his childhood day's visit to Tirupathi to witness the Vidwath sabha, being organized by the great saint Shri SathyadhyanathiirTha. Shri Padaki considered himself blessed to get this opportunity to speak few words about Shri Jayathirtha on this occasion and he appreciated the deep interest and enthusiasm of Smt & Shri Sethuram Panduragni to host this program. Afterwards Shri Sethuram Panduragi performed maha Mangalarathi to Lord Shri Hari, Shri Vedavyasa, Shri MukhyapraNa , Shri Acharya Madhva and to Shri Jayathirtha while devotees sang the dwadasha sthothra. Then it was the time for thiirTha Prasad and thanks to Shri Sheshagiri and team for the delicious items. This time we had a big nice foam plates to enjoy the grand lunch, thanks to Shri Padmanabha padaki who finally managed to get the plates after constant pursue with the suppliers. The lunch seemed to much tastier and enjoyable with these big plates, supplemented by melodious devara namas by Shri Sheshagiri, Shri Sathish Jamakhandi and others. The afternoon session was much more enlightening and befitting to the occasion. Late Shri Gururajachar Pandurangi, father of Shri Sethuram Pandurangi was a great scholar who was favorite student of Shri Sathyadhyana thiirTha. He had devoted his life for the study and propagtion of tatvavada and had taught many students over decades. As a part of his 60th birthday celebration, he had performed ShriMannyayasudha Mangala and we are fortunate to listen to the cassette of the concluding speech that function. Shri Gururajachar pandurangi had explained the rich philosophy and the importance of Srimannyaya Sudha in a nutshell and it was blessing for all of us to get an opportunity to listen to his voice through cassette. The evening session was concluded with mangala and Shri KrishnarpaNa. We convey our heartfelt thanks to Smt & Shri Sethuram Pandurangi for providing us all the support in making this function a grand success. On this occasion we would like to announce that Shri Madhava Rao Padaki is conducting a class Shri Sumadhva vijaya, thrice a week and it is highly entertaining and enlightening. Please make use of this rare opportunity of learning from scholastic devotee who had seen this country in 60's, well before many of us had come to this world. We would also express our sincere thanks to Shri Shridhar and Shri Pramod who have contributed a 'food processor' to SVBM cooking team to simplify the preprocessing of delicious lunch items. Our next program is Shri Raghavendra Swamy Aradhana at Livermore temple. Please make it convenient to attend that function and get the blessing of Shri Rayaru. Shri KrishnarpaNamastu.
