Guest guest
Dear Hari bhaktas Sri-raghavendraswamy aradhana was celebrated here at VMS-Michigan in a grand scale. Volunteers did a great job in decoration of Birndavana and a wooden tottilu for rayaru. Our program started with stotra parayana by chanting suprabatam, sukta-s, sri-visnusahasranama, vayustuti, dwadashastotra, dashavatara stuti and krishnashtaka. To get blessings from sri-rayaru we chanted sri-raghavendra stotra 10 times in a traditional way with 108 “om sri-raghavendraya namaha” Sri-Gopinath Galagali started his discourse explaining the meaning of the stotra composed by his father on sri-rayaru. Sri-galagali explained the meaning of “shapanugraha” which appears in sri-raghavendra stotra. In this world there are lot of people who can attain the power to curse some one, but there are very few great satvik souls like sri-rayaru who can convert shapa in to anugraha. Sri-galagali quoted the example from Ramayana where dasharatha gets the curse from shravana kumara’s parents for his heinous action. This curse according to shravana kumara’s parents dasharatha has to die in old age while his sons are away from him. This curse in a way became anugraha because dasharatha didn’t had any children at that time so according to the curse he has to get children and he will live till he gets old age. Most importantly he will endure (burn the karma) everything in the same life (janma). Another example sri-galagali quoted from a very recent time. During sri-satyadhyana thirtha period(1910-1945 AD) pontiff of Uttaradi mutt there lived a Brahmin who is also a great scholar by name sri-Guru muddu acharya , it so happened that Sri-Gurumuddu acharya developed a kind of severe stomach ache during his prime age. Achar consulted lot of doctors and couldn’t solve his stomach ache later he was asked to seek the advise of sri-satyadhyana thirtha, who later asked achar to do seva at mantralayam and only sri-rayaru can alleviate his pain. Sri- guru muddu achar later went to mantralayam and did performed seva for couple of weeks but achar didn’t find any signs of improvement. Sri-gurumuddu achar later seek the advise of mantralaya mutt swamiji (sri-sudhindra thirtha ?? not sure !!) and achar was advised to do parayana of SUDHA PARIMALA at the sannidhi of sri-rayaru brindavanam. Because being a great scholar (sri-gurumuddu achar) one should do seva in the form of Jnana-yagna. At the completion of Sudha-parimala over a period of months sri-gurumuddu achar was free from his stomach ache and later he lead a healthy life for 96 yrs. This is just one small instance to explain the greatness of Sri-rayaru and his shapanugraha power. After a small break Sri-gopinath galagali continued his discourse on sri-bhagavatam 5 & 6 skanda. Sri-galagali narrated the story of Jada-bharatha the life cycle he went through due to attachments. Sri-galagali explained the quality of abhimana in jeevas due to ajnana. This has been explained only by sri-madwacharya in his gita-tatparya. In 6th skanda sri-galagali narrated the story of Ajamila where being a pious Brahmin Ajamila develops contact with a prostitute and forgets his dialy duties. After some time Ajamila experiences a feeling where he is on death bed utters his last son name “narayana”. Due to that there goes a debate between yama doota-s and Vishnu doota-s finally Vishnu doota wins the debate and take ajamila to vikunta. This experience was the turning point in Ajamila’s life , later Ajamila spends his rest 20 yrs in doing intense sadhana near the bed of ganges. The message from this example is one won’t attain mukti just by uttering lords name on the death bed, sadhana has to be completed. Every one will have some turning point in life like a “wake up call” similar to ajamila’s experience. Nastik can one day become Astik due to some experince. The next point is people make mistakes and the solution is “pashchatapa” which should lead to antharanga shuddi and is the solution. At 2.00 pm we had a mangalarathi and thitha prasada, thanx to all volunteers who helped in cooking a great food. In the afternoon we had a concert from Dr Prasanna kumar (vocal) , his wife manjula rao (violin) and Rohan (14 yr old excellent mridangam player). Some of the devaranama-s are 1. Biduvenyaa hanuma ninna 2. Krishna ni begane baro 3. Roga harane krupa sagara sri guru 4. nambikettavarillavo rangayyana 5. Thunga thira viharam bhajamana 6. Odi barayya vikunta patininna At 6.00 pm Sri galagali performed Tottilu seva for sri-rayara with devaranama “tugireraya tugire gurugala “ composed by sri-jagannatha dasaru. Over all it was a great day for all of us and cherished each and every moment of stotra prayana, bhagavatam and the excellent concert. Once again thanx to all volunteers for the help. with regards VMS Michigan Make international calls for as low as $.04/minute with Messenger http://phonecard./
