Mettilotsava Songs

Dear Friends:

We anticipate the Mettalotsava function/procession (Pittsburgh) to last for

two hours. We need to coordinate ourselves so that it is successful. As done

in Tirupathi, we suggest we form small groups (10 to 20 persons per group).

One group will follow the other leaving some distance between them during

the procession. All the groups need not sing the same song (except at couple

of points - one when we reach the mettilu at the Pushkarani and the second

when the Lord reaches us in the praakara inside the temple where the

devotees wait to greet the Lord).

As in Mettilotsava in Thirupathi, we will have two songs to sing together,

Bidalo Ninnangri Srinivasa and Dasana Madiko Enna. These two songs are THE

Mettilotsava songs in Thirupathi. We will sing these two songs together in

the VMS Conference also on Sun and Mon. We will send audio tapes of these

two songs as were sung in chorus in the actual Mettilotsava in Thirupathi a

few years ago to our following coordinators or request tatvavada.net to load

in their internet site for all to listen, down-load and practise these two

songs.

Each group has to come up with a list of songs that they will sing. For ease

of coordination, we suggest the groups can be formed as per geographical

location. Suggestions are most welcome on how we want to do this. Nothing

is final. Your input is most deisrable. Here is a suggestion:

1. Allentown - coordination and practice session is in progress. Srinivasan

2. Detroit - well coordinated group; ready to go. Muralidhar is

3. Wash. D.C - please let me know how many people are coming from DC and who

is coordinating. Sri Murthy Navarathna can be the coordinator if Smt.

4. NJ/NY/CT area -- Sri Madhusudan Bheemasena Rao to coordinate. Contact

Others: please join any one group and let the coordinator know you are

joining that group. Try to go to CA group as they have fewer people.

Group coordinators:

Please make a list of songs and communicate it to your group. Please follow

the taratamya bhajana paddhathi. Please select common, well-known songs for

people to sing/follow without much difficulty. Most people may not have the

book/text. Please select songs from the Haridasa page and provide

appropriate link for people to download the song(s). Stick to the list &

order during the Mettalotsava procession. Please provide your

suggestions/input.

Individuals who do not wish to join the above groups can form groups

themselves or individually chant slokas, sing songs and still be part of

the over all Mettilotsava group and experience. There are no restrictions.

Thanks a lot for all your efforts and struggle to make this great

event happen. It is really proud to all of us that we are able to

organise such a great function. I am sure with the blessings of Shri

Hari it will be more colorful and successful than anticipated.

 

Just one small thought. It is an occassion where people from different

parts of the country are assemblying. It may be a nice opportunity to

discuss about the goals and future activities of the organization. It

is now almost 5 years the organization is established. Probably it is

good time to review the activities and plan something for the future.

Basically to discuss about what VMS can do for the younger generation

and how the organization can help people to strengthen the madhva

society in US. Also it is a good time to think about the future

operation model of the VMS. Just for example how we would like to grow:

Like Chinmaya Mission or Ramakrishna Mission or any other successful

organiation. We need to have some guidelines and operating model to

grow and propagate our philosophy. Also we need to think of some model

how we can support teams and activities in India.
