SRI VENKATESHA PRASANNA

Dear Adyathma Bandhus,

By the grace of our Lord Sri Srinivasa, Vayu, Gurugalu, on this very

auspicious day of Akshaya trutiya, we are announcing the final program of

Mettilotsava in Sri Venkateshwara Temple in Penn Hills (Pittsburgh) on

Sunday, 26 May and Vishwa Madhwa Sangha (VMS) Conference in Murrysville

Community Center (Pittsburgh) on Sunday-Monday (Memorial Day holidays) 26-27

May, in presence of His Holiness Sri Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji and group,

Puthige Matha, Udupi. All are welcome.

Sri Swamiji is participating as the Chief Diginitary in Sri Narayana

Ashtakshara Maha Mantra Yagna in Sri Venkateshwara Temple in Pittsburgh on

the occasion of the Silver Jubilee Celebrations of this Temple.

Full details of the Mettilotsava and the VMS Conference are given in the

specially created internet web-site http://www.tatvavada.org/metlotsava/

(courtesy of Sri Madhusudan Bheemarao and Sri Janardhan Rao, New Jersey).

This site also has information for hotels and the link to Sri SV Temple

(Pittsburgh) home page.

Mettilotsava is celebrated every year in Thirupathi (Nov-Dec) for 3 days

which is participated by Swamijis and thousands of ardent devotees of Dasa

parampara. Since photographs of Mettilotsava in Thirupathi were not

available in time, we have included the photographs of Mettilotsava in Sri

Rangapatna in the web-site http://www.tatvavada.org/metlotsava/

participated by Sri Vyasaraja Matha Swamiji. This is for providing pictorial

information about a typical Mettilotsava. " Mettilu " means " steps " in

Kannada and Telugu and this utsava is for the devotees to offer their seva

to the Lord by walking up the holy hill and have the divya dharshana of the

Lord, in the company of sincere groups of devotees, singing the songs of

Dasas or reciting slokas in the glory of our Lord.

The above web-site also contains the audio and script (Kannada/English) of 3

main songs which will be sung in chorus by all the participants during the

Mettilotsava. " Bidano ninnangri Srinivasa " at the pushkarani and the other

two songs in the prakara of the Temple while receiving our Lord in the

Garuda Vahana.

Following Mettilotsava in the morning, we have VMS Conference in

Murrysville Community Center during the rest of Sunday, 26 May and Monday

27 May (till 12 noon, informal session till 4 pm), where we have

harikatha, philosophical session, childrens' program, Swamiji's talks,

Swamiji's thotilu pooja to Lord Sri Udupi Krishna and Swamiji's maha pooja

to Lord Panduranga Vittala Devaru, followed by dinner/theertha prasada in

this community center.

We have confirmed participation of devotees from various regions of this

country for these functions, viz., Connecticut, New York, New Jersey,

Pennsylvania, Delaware, Michigan, Washington D. C, Virginia, Ohio,

Kentuky, Texas, California etc. Our VMS volunteers will provide ground

transportation to devotees arriving and departing in Pittsburgh airport.

Please forward this message about these rare celebrations to your interested

friends and relatives and participate to obtain the unique experience and

blessings of our Lord. The attached two word documents are for printing and

posting in bulletin boards in the temples and cultural centers in your local

communities and for mailing to those not in the internet.
