Guest guest
RETREAT WITH SRI PUTHIGE SWAMJI AND GROUP FOR SRI KRISHNA JANMASHTAMI, Aug 30-Sep 2 (Fri-Mon) Sri Puthige Swamiji and group are observing chathurmaasa in a 35 acre ashrama set-up in a tranquil rural area about 18 miles from Allentown in Pennsylvania. This site, previousely used by a group for meditation activities, has a large 2 storey building with about 20 rooms with electricity, modern kitchen, rest rooms etc. This main building is situated in a 10 acre meadow, surrounded by wooded area in a peaceful, serene atmosphere. By the Grace of our Lord, Vayu, gurugalu, we propose to join Sri Puthige Swamiji and group to celebrate Sri Krishna Janmashtami and then have a family oriented spiritual retreat with Swamiji during the upcoming Labor Day weekend (Aug 30-Sep 2, Fri-Mon). Free accomodations are available in the ashrama building as well as free accommodation will be provided, as and if needed, in devotees' homes in Allentown. In the ashrama building, ladies and children will be accommodated in rooms in one half of the building and the gents will be accommodated in the rooms in the other half of this building. You have to bring your own sleeping bags, electric fans, lawn chairs etc. The ashrama grounds are also ideal for camping and camping tents for your stay are welcome which will be great fun for our children. While the accommodations are free, expenses for groceries etc for lunch/dinner and other items will be announced in the retreat and donations will be sought from the participants to cover these expenses, as was done in the Mettilotsava/VMS Conference in Pittsburgh a couple of months ago. These expenses are largely head-count dependant. It is vitally important to know the possible head-count participating in this retreat. Participation can be either for the full retreat or partial but WE DO NEED TO KNOW IN ADVANCE SO THAT WE CAN PLAN. Please remember, this retreat is taking place in a rural area and hence the advance planning is A MUST for gathering all groceries and other items ahead of time. We need to know your committment latest by Sunday, Aug 25. Children's program is coordinated by Srimathi Rama Srinivasarao in Washington D. C. Please get in touch with her if your children wish to enact a play or sing songs etc. Her e-mail address is seema.Rao and she is copied here. An example of a format for the proposed retreat is given below just to give an idea and this format can be changed as we evolve our plans: Friday, Aug 30 and Saturday, Aug 31 7-10 pm, Friday, Arrive, settle-down, shower and get ready for Sri Krishna Janmashtami pooje.
