Sri Krishna Janmashtami with Sri Puthige Swamiji - Final Program

Dear Sri Krishnabakthas:

 

Here is the final program for Sri Krishna Janmaastami celebrations with His

Holiness Sri Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji and group, Puthige Matha, Udupi at

the Sri Swamiji's chaaturmaasa kshethram in a serene, rural setting on a

35-acre peaceful wooded retreat in rural Pennsylvania about 18 miles south

of Allentown. All are welcome.

 

Comfortable rooms for sleeping and cold/hot water bathroom facilities are

available at the aashram. However, please bring your own pillows, sheets,

and sleeping bags or blankets. Men

are accommodated in one side of aashram building and women & small kids are

accommodated at the other side. So please pack accordingly.

 

Program is geared for a family oriented spiritual, whole-some, relaxed

retreat. Grounds of the aashram are ideal for camping too and hence, please

bring camping tents and camping equipments for enhancing the camping

experience for your children, whether permitting.

 

Accommodations are free. Free accommodations in devottes' homes in

Allentown are also available to those who need them. Other expenses for the

retreat will be announced and donations will be sought to cover these

expenses, as was done in the Mettilotsava/VMS Conference in Pittsburgh in

May.

Saturday, Aug. 31st

 

04:00 - 06:00 am Mahapooja to Vittala devaru

06:00 am - Theertha prasada / paarane in Udupi style

 

02:00 - 4:00 pm: Organized Play time for kids (softball, boat ride,

dumb charades etc)

05:00 - 06:00 pm: Veena Recital - Smt. Shobha Baru from Hyderabad

06:00 - 07:30 pm: Children's sesson - 1

" Sudhama and Krishna " - a play by children

Bharatanatyam by Sindhoora Murthy and Vibha

Srinivasarao

07:30 - 8:30 pm: Evening thotillu pooja to Lord Krishna by swamiji

08:30 - 9:30 pm: Dinner

09:30 - 10:30 pm: Camp fire (whether permitting)

03:00 - 04:30: Harikatha by Sri Vadisaachaar, Udupi

04:30 - 06:00: Coffee break, play time for kids and adults (cricket,

soccer..)

06:00 - 06:30: Children's sesson - Baharathanatyam by Arakali sisters

From NJ/NY/CT to I-476:

 

Take 78 West (Wash. DC people will be coming in 78 East)

Exit # 53 at Allentown to Rte 309 North

On 309, take 22 West

On 22, take 1st exit to PA Turnpike which is same as I-476

Take I-476 South towards Philadelphia

 

Follow as below:

 

From I-476 South:

 

Take exit # 32, Rte 663 West

Go about 6 - 8 miles, and take Rte 29 South (left turn)

Go another 5 miles and turn left into Rte 63 East

(Texaco Gas Station at intersection)

About 0.5 miles on 63, left into Upper Ridge Rd (Public school at

intersection)

1st STOP sign, right into Geryville Pike

4th or 5 th Driveway on the left (Gravel driveway, # on mail box with

initials GK)

 

From I-476 North:

 

Take exit #31, Rte 63 West

After entering Sumneytown (63 is called as Sumneytown Pike in Sumneytown),

Right into Upper Ridge Rd (Public school at intersection)

1st STOP sign, right into Geryville Pike

4th or 5 th Driveway on the left (Gravel driveway, # on mail box with

initials GK)

 

From Allentown:

 

Take Rte 29 South (Rte 100 South joins with Rte 29 at Macungie Township)

Go about 15 miles from Rte 100 intersection at Macungie

turn left into Rte 63 East
