Guest guest
Hare Srinivasa, I got to know some interesting facts about Tirupathi Srinivasa from my mother. She was reading a book on Tirupathi authered by sri.Ramachandra Rao. Most of you might be aware of these facts but they came as a surprise to me. The main idol has no shanku and chakra . what one can see are made of copper fixed to His bare hands. The feet of the Lord are ‘sunk’ into the ground and cannot be seen by all. Daily some oil is smeared on the feet and then covered by a cloth and a Kavacha. There is a slight damage on his chin which is covered by applying camphor. There is a slight bulge on his forehead like a elongated tilaka on which the ‘naama’ is applied. The nirmaalya of the Lord is thrown into a well and not adorned by anyone. The worship of the diety is done only by Vaikhanasa priests and not by SriVaishnavites.(Iyengaars follow the pancharatra agama) according to Vaikhanasa agama shastra. The gopura or Ananda Vimana gets is shape by a copper gopura on which Gold has been plated. Most of the rituals are done to the silver utsava murthy called Koutuka Bera and little to the mail idol called Dhruva Bera. regards Dilip Get Your Private, Free E-mail from Indiatimes at http://email.indiatimes.comBuy the best in Movies at http://www.videos.indiatimes.comNow bid just 7 Days in Advance and get Huge Discounts on Indian Airlines Flights. Guest guest
Some more facts.. 1. The face has got a real beauty with half smiling 2. The sacred thread (Janivara) is easily visible 3. The height is about 8 Ft 4. If we go behind the Idol we can see the Hairs (whic use to be real! once upon a time.) structure. The above facts can be easily observed only during Fridays ABHISHKA at 3.0AM. 5. When Sri-vysathirtha was performing Pooja for 12 yrs the cheeks use to become soft like human while applying the sandle paste. regards Srinivas prasad --- diliprathnakar <diliprathnakar wrote: > > > > Hare Srinivasa, > > > I got to know some interesting facts about Tirupathi > Srinivasa from my mother.
