> Hare Srinivasa. Here is the final program of the Mettilotsava in Sri

Venkateshwara Temple in Pittsburgh and the VMS Conference in the nearby (within

a few miles of the Temple) Murrysville Community Center during May 24-26

(Memorial Day weekend).

>

> If you are still planning to participate, please reserve hotel accommodation

without delay since hotels in Monroeville area are scarce due to the long

weekend. Please see below in this thread for the list of the hotels in

Monroeville area.

>

> Mettilotsava is the official function of Sri Venkateshwara Temple in

Pittsburgh. Hence, this function has to start on time and proceed as per the

program already discussed with the Temple authorities.

>

> There is no shuttle bus service and car parking is at the regular car parking

area in the top of the hill or in the Pushkarani area. A couple of our

volunteers will direct you for the car parking on 25 May (Sunday). Please

arrive by 7 am at the foot-hills, drop off your family (same spot as last year),

then proceed to the car parking area. The function will start sharply at 7:30

am. PLEASE BE PUNCTUAL.

>

> Like last year, groups will be formed at the foot-hills after recitation of

Praata Sankalpa Gadhya and Mangalaashtaka (bring your copies). The procession

route is the same as last year, up the hill, thru the Pushkarani. Groups will

come together in the bottom of the steps in the Pushkarani area for chorus

singing of Bidano ninnangri Srinivasa by all present. Then up the steps and

together again in front of the Maha Dhwaara of the Temple where the concluding

songs will be sung by all together. Forming a line, our group will enter the

Temple (no singing) at slightly after 9:30 am, and the whole group will await

the turn for dharshana of the Lord. While inside the Temple, only one song will

be sung by all present, in one single chorus, the song is " Dasana Maadiko Enna "

as our final prayer to our Lord. Priest will then perform a single maha

sankalpa for our entire Mettilotsava group and then archana and mangalarathi to

our Lord. This will formally conclude the Mettilotsava function. At 10:30,

there is Sesha Vahana procession of our Lord, just inside the praakara.

> On 24 May, there is Swarna Rathothsava to our Lord at 6 pm. Almost all our

participants in the Mettilotsava will be participating in this function too.

>

> The VMS Conference is in the Murrysville Community Center. Please arrive by 1

pm so that the program can start on time. Driving directions are given below.

>

> Please note that the cell telephones of Srinivasan, 610-462-8135 and

Sudhindra, 703-220-8345, will be on all the time for co-ordination and for any

emergencies.

> 6 pm Swarna Ratha Uthsava in the Temple (as in last year), we participate,

sing songs

> 7:30 pm Dasa Sahithya Concert in the Concert Hall in the Temple by the well

known senior artist Sri R. K Srikantan, Karnataka (as part of Sri Purandara

Dasara Aradhane in the Temple, in the morning there are group and individual

singing in the Temple).

> Dinner in the Temple Cafetaria on your own.

> Sunday, May 25

>

> 7:00 - 7:30 am, Drive to the assembly area in the foot-hills, drop off family

in the assembly area, follow directions for car parking in the Temple area

(probably both in the Temple dedicated parking lot in the foot-hills as well as

the parking lots in the pushkarani area and top of the hills) and assemble at

the foot-hills (same place as last year, however no shuttle buses this year).

> 7:30 am, Ghosti recitation of Praata Sankalpa Gadhya, Mangalaashtaka

> 7:30 - 10:00 am, Mettilotsava, conclusion in front of the Lord at the top of

the holy hills.

> Breakfast/lunch in Temple Cafetaria after Mettilotsava are on your own.>

> 1:00 - I:30 pm, Assemble in Murrysville Community Center. See below for

driving directions.

> 2:00-3:30 pm Philosophy session, Sri Gopal Madhusudahanrao, " Sri Madhwa's

> VMS Conference and Mettilotsava in SV Temple, Pittsburgh - First

Announcement

> Dear Sri Hari Bhaktas and devotees of Dasa Sahithya,

>

> By the grace of Sri Hari, Vayu, gurugalu, Mettilotsava will be performed in

Sri Venkateshwara Temple, Pittsburgh on May 25, Sunday (Memorial Day Weekend).

This is the official function of the Temple. This is the 2nd year this function

is held in this Temple. Many of us in the Vishwa Madhwa Sangha (VMS) had

proposed and participated in this function last year.

>

> Mettilotsava is walking and singing Dasara Devaranaamagalu, reciting slokas

etc with devotion in the heart in the company of devout devotees on the holy

hill leading to the steps (mettilu), climbing the steps, reach the Temple and

have the divya dharshana of our Lord Sri Venkateshwara. The Mettilothsava

function is held every year in Thirupathi participated by thousands of ardent

devotees.

>

> Following the Mettilothsava, VMS Annual Conference and Get-Together will be

held in the near-by Murrysville Community Center. This is the same location

where the last year VMS Conference was held.

>

> Our private communications with our VMS members in many parts of the U. S. A

indicate the same enthusiasm and interest to participate in these events this

time as in the last year. This year too, our VMS friends and devotees of Dasa

Sahithya from Michigan, Pennsylvania, California, Virginia, Maryland,>

Washington D. C, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Ohio etc are expected to

participate with their families and friends.

> Given below is the preliminary program at this moment. Final program will be

announced later.

> Saturday, May 24

>

> Arrive in Pittsburgh area and settle down in hotel rooms.

> About 5 pm (exact time will be announced later) Swarna Ratha Uthsava in the

Temple (as in last year), we participate, sing songs

> About 7 pm (exact time will be announced later) Dasara Songs Concert in the

Concert Hall in the Temple by the well known senior artist Sri Srikantan,

Karnataka (as part of Sri Purandara Dasara Aradhane in the Temple, in the

morning there are group and individual singing in the Temple).

> Dinner in the Temple Cafetaria on your own.

>

> Sunday, May 25

> 7 - 10 am, Mettilotsava

> Breakfast and lunch in Temple Cafetaria after Mettilotsava are on your own.

> 1:30 - 10 pm, VMS Conference with dinner in Murrysville Community Center.

VMS Conference will consist of lectures, children's program, snacks/ " hot "

tiffin/coffee/tea in the afternoon, Haridasara Bhajane and pooje in the evening,

freshly catered multi course sit-down dinner in the night.

> Monday, May 26 (Ekadashi)

> Dharshana of Sri Srinivasa in the Temple and departure to home.

>

> List of hotels in Monroeville area for accommodation, driving directions etc

will be announced later.

>

> Formating of the VMS Conference, co-ordinating with the Temple authorities

for the Mettilotsava etc are all in progress. Periodic updates will be provided

as we make progress.

>

> Please give your thoughts on how we can enhance the Mettilotsava and the VMS

Conference experience. If there is anything we can do, please let us know.

>

> It will be very helpful if people can confirm their participation by sending

their e-mails to me so that we can get on with our planning process. It will be

good to know even if your participation is tentative at this stage.
