Guest guest
Greetings, We are very thankful to all the people who have helped directly, indirectly, from India and US. I have a great news to share with you, recently, we had some very special guests to our new research centre called " Centre for Digital Manuscripts " in Joint Secretary, Dept of Culture, New Delhi, Sri Jayakumar and Dr. Sudha Gopalakrishnan, Director, National Mission for Manuscripts. After their visit, they have now recognised our efforts and are involving us in the prestigious Programme of Creating the biggest Digital Manuscripts Library in the world (of something about 5-10 million mss). The hallmark of this has been the tool called " VYASA " (named after Vedavyasa). Without the help some people who supported us when we started I am sure our efforts of more than 4.5 years would have gone waste. I take pleasure on behalf of MSP to acknowledge the help of people involved Shri Vinay Joshi - Person who sponsored the first computer to MSP (one of the founders) on which the Vyasa has been mostly developed (about 60 %) Still today this machine is present here and is named as Vyasa. He has helped us whenever there has been financial crisis and never let us down. Shri Janardhan - Backbone of MSP all these years, has managed to keep this baby alive when it needed most. He has been the nurse, mother and kudos to his fund raising and channelising work that made us to sustain till today. Smt Anuradha & Shri B.V.Jagadeesh - Never saw the results or when we can deliver the same had been very generous to sponsor computers when we needed the most and helped MSP to setup the Digital Lab. Shri Gopalaswami IAS, - Secretary, Ministry of Home affairs, New Delhi. This gentleman, is a very simple, down to earth bureaucrat. His visit to MSP in 2001 brought lot of ideas, credability to the organization. Shri CS Kedar IAS, - Secretary, Dept of Kannada and Culture, Govt. of KArnataka. A pushy officer, has motivated us to deliver the best and has been instrumental in getting the due recognition for having restored their Century old Gazetteer volumes using vyasa. He has included us in the Karnataka State Committee for National Mission for Mss. Last but never the least.. Smt. Tejaswini and Shri Ananthkumar (Honorable Minister for Urban development, Govt. of India). This couple who have passion for Indian heritage and culture, saw our interest and I do not have words to praise these two. They have helped in each and every step from past two and half years. Especially, at MSP, there is no big occassion without the participation of the honourable minister. He sponsored computers, large format scanner, large format printer which led to establishment of this Centre for Digital Mss. Smt. Tejaswini is an advisor to MSP, has been instrumental to take this organisation to get acquainted with the officials in Delhi in 2001. Since then we have never looked back. We are also greatly indebted to Prof. Prahladacharya, VC, RSVP, Tirupati who has helped us to lead this organization and get its due credentials. Recently, we also roped in Dr. NJ Rao, Chairman, Management studies dept. IISc as head of CDM, His presence in this organisation made a big difference in planning and organising. His approach is intricate and meticulous. We have long way to go, I am sure we would be learning a lot from him. Dr. AG Ramakrishnan, my professor at IISc, has been instrumental in helping with the technology for Kannada OCR, which we will be releasing in couple of months as a free tool to all kannadigas across the world to convert their printed books to searchable text. Though we dreamt something big, without the mercy and help from GOD through all the people directly, indirectly we are sure that we would haven't reach this state, though there are long way to go still.
