Guest guest
Dear aDhyAthma bamDhu's Namaskaragalu! I have been thinking of writing on this topic for quite sometime but could not do so due to some constraints. Whenever there is a discussion on a specific topic concerning dvaitha philosophy, scholars always tend to provide or request quotations as proof from scriptures written in Sanskrit. This is something that need to be debated. The same set of scholars very loudly say that language is not a barrier to understand & reach HIM. Why do not we consider the kannada sahithya written by our Great Gurus who are aparOxa j~JAni's as proof to prove a concept? There could be two reasons why we do not want to consider kannada sahithya written by our Great Gurus during a debate: 1. We consider them non aparOxa j~JAnis or 2. Since a aparOxa j~JAni other than shrI vAyu are bound to have aj~JAna depending on their yOgyatha at times, we do not want to consider their contribution as 100% perfect. Probably, no one would dare to proclaim that Great Gurus (Purandara, Vijaya, Kanaka, Gopala, Jagannatha, etc) are not aparOxa j~JAnis. Some scholars claim the second aspect to be the reason for not accepting their work in totality. If this were the case, the same thing applies to any work by shrI tIkAchAryaru, shrI vyAsarAjaru, shrI raghUththamaru, shrI rAyaru, etc. When some poses above question, scholars suggest to take only such things from the works of Great Saints which are not against the works of shrI madhvaru. Now who would decide whether the works of Great Saints are in sync with the works of shrI madhavaru or not since the person who is deciding on it may himself be under the influence of kali vyApara. Taking this argument into consideration, it would be ideal not to question the works of Great Saints/Gurus who have thrown enough light on the works of AchArya shrI madhvaru & have been the cause of enlightenment for sathvik souls. With this as the background, one should very well accept the kannada works of Great Gurus with great reverence and should accept the sahithya as mOchaka sAhithya. Unless we have this bent of mind, the works of Great Gurus would not be understood in its true sense and its a great loss to mAdhavas in particular and the society in general. There are many vidhyAPTas & gurukulas run by mAdhva institutions and none of them have kannada sAhithya by Great Gurus in their curriculum. Is it not the time to think on this aspect? I think we lack seriousness. I am saying this because, the other day, I was having a discussion with one of my friends on shrI vadhirAjara Rujuthva & he was arguing with me on the basis of Rujuthva khamdana books written by one of the AchAryas. I was aruging pro Rujuthva & was quoting kannada padas by Great Gurus and he was in no mood to accept them. Simple reason for not accepting - Kannada padas & other reasons as stated above. Are those the only reason for neglecting them? What a state of affair? Is this what we are trying to induce into the minds of fellow mAdhavas? All these questions remain unaswered unless we give a serious thought on this aspect & request all the maTaDhipathis & pITaDhipathis to change their view point. Kannada sAhithya by Great Gurus is j~JAna bhandara. It provides answers to all our concerns. We should have the willingness & openmindedness to accept this. bhAgavatha & dAsa sAhithya provide much needed impetus for generating bhakthi in a sADhaka. Through this forum, let us request all concerned to have this sAhithya in the curriculum of gurukulas & vidhyapITas. Let shrI hari-vAyu-gurugaLu GIVE US enough strength in accepting the kannada sAhithya by Great Gurus as they are & NOT GIVE US benefit of doubt on the works of Great Gurus.
