Dear folks,

While browsing for some information about Tirupati history and facts,

I came across a web-site which I found disturbing. This web-site is

located at www.ambedkar.org/Tirupati and contains a sort

of " conspiracy-theory " type information outlining facts and figures

to prove that TTD is a Buddist shrine and only recently (few

centuries ago) became a Hindu shrine due to Brahmin usurpation. The

authors of the article are Mr. JamanaDas and one Mr. Nalawade of Pune

University.

First of all, I have not yet gone through all those facts and

figures, but I do NOT beleive any of it. Additionally, since I have

been a staunch believer of Lord Venkateshwara's manifestation in

Tirumala as " Swayam Vyaktha " based on many Hindu Purana's and

discourses from elders and Gurus, as well as many books from

childhood, the text i found in the above web-site disturbed me and

my convictions.

I was wondering if any of you well learned scholars in our community

has refuted the article mentioned in the web-site in the past, OR if

not, I would sincerely appreciate if you could do so now. I am

deeply attached to Tirupati (more so from an emotional, historical and

apiritual basis), and have always convinced that the Lord is " Swayam

Vyaktha " , but am unable to put Mr. Jamana's claims to dirt because

of my lack of written scriptures or puranic references currently with

me.

Please note i am not against any particular religion, but thought

putting the facts right now would be better than accepting what's

written out there.

Thanks all and Best Regards

-- REKHA RAO.
