Namaskaras to everybody!

I am new to this group. Subscribed out of interest,

obviously. Would like to send you all a beautiful song

by Kanaka daasaru. It is originally in kannada and has

been translated by my revered grandfather Shri R.S

Panchamukhi. The poetry is so beautiful, it will

surely increase the taste of chanting the holy name of

Shri krishna more than ever!

Om Namo Bhagavate Vaasudevaya

Every one works for the sake of his belly,

For a piece of cloth and a loaf of bread!

To learn the Vedas and study the Sastras,

And to teach it to others is for the stomach and a

piece of cloth!

Being the warriors with weapons in hand

To cut down and shatter, is for the stomach and a

piece of cloth!

To erect the stalls and to speak cunningly

And to earn by foul means is for the stomach and a

piece of cloth!

To deceieve the others with honey like tongue

And to lie and eat is for the stomach and a piece of

cloth!

To pound the rice, to carry the wood

And to toil and eat, is for the stomach and a piece of

cloth!

With Tala and Dandige, and Tamburi to form the chorus

To dance like a harlot, is for the stomach and a piece

of cloth!

The ascetic, the wanderer, the fighter and the

arrogant Sadhu,

These numerous dresses are for the stomach and a piece

of cloth!

To hide in a valley with stones and sticks

And then to rob is for the stomach and piece of cloth!

To get in a car and ride in a palanquin with people

and army behind

And to move with pomp is for the stomach and piece of

cloth!

But verily to praise the highest Kesava

With all the heart, is for release, is for bliss!!
