Guest guest
Dear Adhyatma Bandhus, Will you please throw some bright light on the following? I heard three different views on Budhdhwatara of Supreme Lord. Which is right? 1. ONE TIME BUDDHAVATARA- same as in history. Buddha (Sidhdhartha is earlier name) is the son of Sudhshodhana. He is only the JINA- as per Bhagavata Tatparya Nirnaya. The same Buddha stood naked in Sukshma loka for destroying cleanliness in the minds of wives of Tripurasuras. (As understood by me from Bhagavata of Sri.Bannanje). 2. ONE TIME BUDDHAVATARA- different from history. Buddha of Bhagavata is completely different than son of Sudhshodhana. BOUDHDHA’s Budhdha has nothing to do with our Buddha. “Battale nintiha budhdha” is different Buddha. BOUDHDHA’s Buddha has nothing to do with him. (For this argument, I feel no supporting at all). 3. TWO TIME BUDHDHAVATARA- 1.Same as in history, 2.Tripurasura-Shtree-Mohana. 1. Buddha (Sidhdhartha is earlier name) is the son of Sudhshodhana. 2. Buddha incarnated earlier once and stood naked in Sukshma loka for Destroying cleanliness in the minds of wives of Tripurasuras. Your clarifications will be highly appreciated. Guest guest
"Buddha of Bhagavata is completely different than son of Sudhshodhana". This is what I have heard from someone. Though I do not remember the complete wordings, this is what I remember . Buddha was born with bright eyes and able to speak as soon as he was born. Immediately after he was born he claimed himself to be powerful than god. He said that there is no god and he himself is lord . He also ate surya deva to show to people that he was very powerful. after this he disappeared. His avatara was for a small duration. The main reason for his avatara is the following reason. There were people who believed in god and those who didnt. Those who had great faith in god said that God really exists and what buddha is saying is not correct. But who didnt have faith or had half faith, they saw the just born child doing tricks and began to believe that god really doesnt exist. God really wanted to show who are all the people who have real faith in him and who doesnt have. Maybe somebody who have heard this avatara of Lord can through more light. I can get more details on this and maybe give proper details in my next mail.. Not quite -- the Lord takes the place of Sudhodhana's son. Acharya Madhva in his MBTN 32.135 says: " shishuM prajAtaM *samprAsya dUre.atra babhUva* vishhNuH " The Lord Vishnu *throws away* the baby of Shuddhodhana... While commenting on the bhAgavata 1.3.24, Acharya quotes BrahmAnDa purANa, which says that Shuddhodhana imagines this Lord as his son - " putram taM kalpayAmAsa.. " This child, i.e., Lord Buddha preaches buddha dharma which deludes the jIna etc. After describing this, Acharya hints that the child Buddha left the scene to teach the gods the real purport: " gatvA svadhAmApyapareNa rUpeNA.aste pR^ithak.h " MBTN 32.146 As the Lord reached His abode in one form, He stayed with gods in another form. The gist of MBTN 32.135 to 148 or so. In kaliyuga, after one thousand years, after all the gods, who came down to earth, returned to the heaven, the Tripurasuras, who were killed by Rudra were born on earth again. Then Sri Vedavyasa had disappeared. All bad shAstrAs were destroyed and only good shastrAs were in vogue. So, even the asuras were able to procure supreme knowledge. But the gods did not like the unfit souls to procure such knowledge. So they went to the Lord Vishnu and prayed. One TripurAsura was born as Shuddhodana or Jina. The Lord made his son disappear and took the baby's form. When Shuddhodana tried to do all religious ceremonies according to Vedas, the baby started laughing. When all were surprised at this, the baby started preaching the " Buddha philosophy " to those asuras. But they did not heed the words of the baby. As instigated by the Lord, the gods used their weapons against the baby. The baby swallowed all the weapons including Shiva's trident. At last the baby made the discus of VishNu as the seat and sat down. Having witnessed the powers of the baby, Shuddhodana etc. adopted the principles of " Buddha dharma " and abandoned the vaidic ways. Then the Lord disappeared and went to teach gods the correct meaning (called Prashanta vidya). After the Lord left, the prauDha Buddha taught the supeficial meaning of " Buddha dharma " (which was shunyavada). > He is only the JINA- as per Bhagavata Tatparya Nirnaya. Shudhodhana is jIna. > The same Buddha stood naked in Sukshma loka for destroying > cleanliness in the minds of wives of Tripurasuras. Yes, but my understanding is that this happend at another time -- when Kaliyuga was about to take place, Tripurasuras [mis]used the chastity of their wives and Lord Buddha creates moha in them to kill the asura-s.
