Guest guest
*I have posted this on this on the philosophy group and was asked to also post it here* Hari Sarvottama Vayu Jeevottama Dear fellow Madhvas, I have a question about my Veda-Shakha that I hope someone on this list would be able to answer.I hail from the Bhargava Gotra, Shukla Yajurveda and Bodhayana Sutra. My family originally hails from Nediyooru very near Udupi (We are Tulu Shivalli Madhvas), and the moola temple for Bhargava Gotra in South Canara is the Shive temple at Inna and the Durga temple at Munkooru/Munderu. My question is: The Shukla Yajurveda has 2 shakhas - Kanva and Madhyandina. Nobody in my family knows which one we belong to. I asked a Marathi (Advaitin) Agnihotri and he guessed that I must belong to the Kanva Shaakha, since the Madhyandina Shakha is most common in the Uttar Pradesh area and not South. I would like to know for sure, and I was hoping that knowledgeable members of this list would be able to help me out.
