Guest guest
Dear Haribhaktas, Here's the report on Sri Madhva navami celebration held at the Livermore temple. With the anugraha of Sri Hari, Vayu, Gurugalu the function was a divine experience with about 100 devotees (mostly Madhvas) attending the function. Thanks to Sri Sateesh Jamakhandi who has captured the event in great detail. We will post the photos of the event shortly. Regards, Sathya ****************************************************************************** || Shri Harihi Om || || Shri LakshmiNarasimhAya Namaha || || Shri HanumaBheemaMadhvAya Namo Namaha || || Hari Sarvotthama || Hare Srinivasa || Vayu Jeevotthama || Sri Madhva Navami function was another memorable event for the Northern California madhvas. The day long function was attended by over 100 devotees at the Shiva Vishnu Temple in Livermore. The days activities started early morning with the unloading of groceries and preparations for yet another elaborate food preparation effort. Although lots of our volunteers have left this place, there was no dearth for new volunteers under the able guidance of the existing ones. The stage was being prepared with lot of pictures, Sarva Moola Granthas, dieties, flowers, fruits, banners and lights. Stotra pathana started around 9.15 am with Sri Venkatesh Stothra, Sri Vishnu Sahasra Naama, Sri Hari Vayu Stuti, Sri Sumadhva Vijaya, Sri Anu Madhva Vijaya, Sri Raghavendra Stotra, Sri Vijaya Raayara Kavacha and other taratamyokta stotras of other yathis. The stage at this point was set for Sri Udupi Bhandarkere Gururajachar for a short, succinct and apt discourse on Sri Madhvacharya's philosophy in English and Kannada. The discourse was followed by detailed pooja by Sri Nagesh Shastry, the chief priest at the temple. The priest performed Abhisheka amidst the chanting of Sri Sukta, Sri Purusha Sukta and Sri Baliththa Sukta and also did the Sri Hanumaan Astothara Japa. After the Naivedya and Maha mangalarathi, the focus shifted to the Sri Ratha which was beautifully decorated with flowers, pictures, Dieties, Sumadhva Vijaya, and Sarva Moola Granthas. The rathostsava went for 30 minutes amidst the singing of devara naamas, Sri Hanuma, Bheema, Madhva songs and other yathi's songs and stothras. The rathotsava reminded everyone of the celebrations back in India. Bramhana bhojana and lunch for the other devotees was another well orchestrated, well organized activity with over 20 volunteers running around, to make sure every minute detail is taken care of. The group inside the kitchen had prepared Keshara Bhaat, Hayagreeva, Payasa, Mysore Paak, and Halwa as pancha khaadya, along with Rice, Kootu, Saaru, Bonda, Pallye and Kosambari. Everyone was talking about how great the food was and it was surely due to the blessings of Sri Madhvacharyaru who is known for his NaLapaaka in Bhimaavatara. After the lunch, it was time to hear yet another discourse from Sri Gururajachar about the life history of Sri Madhvachaaryaru. How lucky are we to have Sri Gururajachar amongst us to enlighten us on Sri Acharya's philosophy. He explained about the mahime of Acharyaru and reminded everyone of the main tenets of tatvavada. Taratamyokta bhajane in the end added more grace to the function. Our respected Sri Pandurangi gave a short discourse on Sri Madhvacharya's philosophy specially aimed towards volunteers who missed the morning session of the discourse. Devotees of all ages came from different parts of California to attend the day long function and Sri Madhvantargata Sri Gopalakrishna provided enough Satsanga, Jnana, Energy and Opportunity to everyone to be in his service. Under the able guidance and leadership of our elder members, let us pray Sri Hari, Vayu and Gurugalu to provide us of such opportunities of celebration in days and months to come.
