Guest guest
Dear All 1. Just early this year I had the golden opportunity of visiting Sri Sankarshana Thirtha's Brindavan. It can be approached from Vellore or Thiruvannamalai. From Polur bus stand it is around 4-5 km by bus, get down at Karapoondi village and walk to agraharam which is 2 km (there is small durga temple on the way) or so. If accompanied by women better go during day time.Alternatively you can go by a jeep. 2. The brindavana is in a good state. The uniqueness is that the brindavana has a hood indicating His Rudramsha. He revealed His swarupa to a scholar Venkatasuri(name could be a little different, I'll check)of Godavari basin. He walked to Karappoondi and has composed several beautiful stotras such as Sankarshana Kavacha, ashtaka, mangala etc. These have been published in devanagari (SMSO) and tamil script along with the saint's life history in English/tamil.The Arni Jagirdars and who were Madhvas did pata with this saint. The saint is a great yogi and worshipped Lord venugopala, Narasimha and Panchamukhi Anjaneya. It is said that He had a third (yogic) eye. He has also composed padas. 3.Worship of this saint (there is a specific mantra for him) is an antidote for eye problems and unexplained ailments. The stotra also indicates that the saint is known to bless devotees with real knowledge even in dreams. Many Madhva scholars in Tamilnadu vouch for His tapobala and grace. 4. The present priest Sri Achyuthachar, lives in a house,a part of which was used by the saint for His daily meditation and japa. The day I reached for darshan, the priest had lost his bicycle and despite that he and his wife were hospitable despite their poor financial status and provided me a quick lunch with fresh pickles and saranna. The priest's young daughter is suffering from a squint eye problem which I understand needs surgery.I did offer him some help.My appeal to devotees is to help this priest (perhaps thro the committee or directly) in this regard.I understand a leading eye hospital in Chennai undertakes such cases as part of its social concern. Perhaps there could be members in this list who are doctors.I also understand that the Uttaradi Math has also supported such surgeries in the past. The saint wd bless all of us as He is known to cure eye ailments specifically. 5. There are only two priestly families in this village and the fact the effort to conduct daily worship by this priest deserves a lot of appreciation. The committee has also undertaken effort to repair the brindavan area. 6. In fact there are quite a few moola brindavans in Vellore district about which perhaps another mail wd be needed.
