Lattitude: 40.43 NLongitutude: 074.01 WADDRESS:45-57 Bowne Street,Flushing, NY 11355Tel: (718)460-8484Fax: (718) 461-8055http://www.nyganeshtemple.org/HAPPY CALENDER YEAR 2005 !!! This calender was prepared based on NY coordinates for NY Ganesha temple, Flushing by Sri R. Kumar of Vontikoppal Panchanga karta, Mysore, India who has studied jyothishastras. About the calender Most of our festivals are observed on days in which certain thithi is prevalent during a specified interval at the place of observance. Thithis & nakshatras being a geocentric phenomenon, the ending moment of a thithi is calculated as such & is equally applicable to all parts of earth simultaneously. Although a thithi usually occurs on the same date in most parts of the earth, it is possible that the prevalence of a particular thithi at a specific part of the day may occur on an earlier date in North America or any other region than in India. However, the moments of sunrise will differ for each place on earth depending on its latitude & longitude & therefore, the hours of duration of these phenomena will vary for each place. The moment of sun's entry into a rasi (zodiac sign) determines the commencing day of a solar month as followsL b) The same day, if the moment of sun's entry into a rasi occurs during daytime a) The following day, if it occurs during nighttime. Duration of Raahu kaalam is determined as follows: The interval between moments of sunrise & sunset at NY for a given day, is divided into eight equal parts. The first part is ignored & each one of the remaining seven parts is observed as Raahu kalam, depending on the day of the week as below: Monday: 1st of 7; Saturday- 2nd of 7, Friday: 3rd of 7; Wednesday- 4th of 7; Thursday: 5th of 7, Tuesday: 6th of 7 & Sunday : 7th of 7th. For places like Chicago, IL using Central standard/daylightsavings time, we have to subtract 1 hour; for places using Mountain standard/daylightsavings time, subtract two hours; & for places using Pacific standard/daylightsavings time, subtract three hours in reference to New York, Eastern standard/daylightsavings time ending timings. mAdhwa calender Description http://www.dvaita.org/misc/calendar/intro.html All timings are based on Eastern Standard/Daylight savings time, USA Vishnu Panchaka Vrata FASTING DAYS Taarana nama samvatsara, Dhakshinayana upto January 13th; Hemanth Ruthu; Margashira mAse- December 12th to January 10th; Masa Niyamaka: Keshava; [soura mAsa- Dhanur Maasa- December 15th to January 13th] January: EKADASHI: (6th & 20th) SRAVANA NAKSHATRA: 11th FULL MOON: (24th) AMAVASYA: (9th) Taarana nama samvatsara; Pushya Mase- January 10th to 8th February; Uttarayana from 14th January; Hemanth Ruthu; Masa Niyamaka: Narayana; [soura mAsa- Makara- January 14th to February 12th]February:EKADASHI: (5th & 19th)SRAVANA NAKSHATRA: (8th)FULL MOON: (23rd) AMAVASYA: (8th) Taarana nama samvatsara; Uttarayana; Shishira Ruthu; Magha mAse- February 9th to March 9th , Masa Niyamaka- Madhava, [soura mAsa- Kumbha - February 12th to March13th] March: EKADASHI: (6th & 21st) SRAVANA NAKSHATRA: (7th) FULL MOON: (25th) AMAVASYA: (9th) Taarana nAma samvatsara, Uttarayana, Shishira Ruthu, Phalguna mAse- March 10th to April 8th, Masa Niyamaka-Govinda, [soura mAsa- Meena- March 14th to April 12th] PARTHIVA NAMA SAMVATHSARA April:EKADASHI: (4th & 19th) SRAVANA NAKSHATRA: (4th) FULL MOON: (23rd) AMAVASYA: (8th) Taarana nama samvatsara upto April 8th, Parthiva nama samvatsara, Uttarayana, Chaitra mAse April 9th to May 7th, Masa Niyamaka- Vishnu, [soura mAsa- Mesha- April 13th to May 13th] May:EKADASHI: (4th & 19th )SRAVANA NAKSHATRA: (1st & 28th)FULL MOON: ( 23rd)AMAVASYA: (7th ) Parthiva nAma samvatsara, Uttarayana, Vasantha Ruthu, Vaishaka mAse- May 8th to June 6th; Masa Niyamaka- Madhusudhana; [soura mAsa - Vrushabha- May 14th to June 13th] June:EKADASHI: (2nd & 18th ) SRAVANA NAKSHATRA: ( 24th)FULL MOON: ( 21st)AMAVASYA: (6th ) Parthiva nAma samvatsara, Uttarayana, Parthiva nAma samvatsara, Jeshta MAse- June 7th to July 6th; Masa Niyamaka- Vamana, [soura mAsa- Mithuna- June 14th to July 16th ]July : EKADASHI: ( 1st, 17th, 31st) SRAVANA NAKSHATRA: (22nd )FULL MOON: (21st )AMAVASYA: (6th ) Parthiva nAma samvatsara, DhakshinAyana from July 15th, Ashadha mAse- July 7th to August 4th Masa Niyamaka- Thrivikrama, [soura mAsa- Kataka- July 17th to August 15th] August: EKADASHI: ( 16th & 30th)SRAVANA NAKSHATRA: ( 18th) FULL MOON: ( 19th) AMAVASYA: ( 4th) Parthiva nAma samvatsara, DhakshinAyana, Shravana mAse- August 5th to September 3rd, Masa Niyamaka- Shridhara, [soura Masa- Simha- August 16th to September 15th] SRI KRISHNASHTAMI : Ashtami begins August 25th at 11:14 pm, ending time August 26th at 11:54 pm Rohini Nakshatra begins at August 26th at 12:19 pm, ending August 27th at 2pm Fasting, Mahapuje on August 26th & Mahapuje, Sri Krishnaashtami puje, arghya during midnight on August 26th.
