THE PROJECT

It was the dream of His Holiness Sri Vidyamanyatirtharu of Palimaru Mutt and Bhandarakere mutt, Udupi to get Sri Jayatirtha's 'Sriman Nyayasudha' with a critical Kannada translation published for the benefit of the knowledge seekers. With his dream and his motivation the translation work started about 12 years back. Under his divine guidance translations were done for the first few chapters and submitted at his lotus feet for his consideration and approval for publication. About four years back this introductory portion of this work was brought out under the name of "SUDHASOURABHA" and was rendered as pranams to the Guru at his first Aradhana.

With overwhelming need for the complete translation of the book; about fifty contemporary scholars and 15 Pitadhipatis, from all mutts, involved themselves in this translation work to fulfill the desire of the Holiness Sri Vidyamanyatirtharu. And SRI RAMAVITTALA TRUST under the guidance of Sri Vishvesha Tirtharu of Pejavar mutt has involved in the publication of the work. From past three years the project picked up the pace and the translation work got completed. The prepress activities have been completed and the publication has gone to press. And presently about 4 volumes of 900 pages each has been printed and the remaining 3 volumes with a technical dictionary explaining the critical words are yet to be printed. And the remaining printing work has been scheduled for completion prior to the release function i.e., before last week of March.

ABOUT THE BOOK

This book is a detailed commentary in Sanskrit written by Sri Jayatirtharu about 700years back on Sri Madhvacharya's "Anuvyakhyana" and is regarded as the magnum opus of the Indian philosophical heritage. So far in the history this is the only book not contradicted by the opponent scholars and enjoys all the due respects from the Schools of Indian thought.

The original Sanskrit text is available for the scholars and the cream of it was not reachable by the common man who could not understand the Sanskrit.

With the desire to share the richness of the book to common man, Sri Vidyamanyaru, dreamt of getting this published in Kannada.

This book is getting published in 9 volumes the first 7 volumes comprises of the original text in Sanskrit with Kannada translation, the 8th volume is about Brahma Sutra's and the 9th volume is a dictionary of technical terms.

A GIST OF THE GREATNESS OF THE BOOK

This book is the cream of the four Vedas; as taught by Sri Lord Vedavyasa promoting the essence of Bhakti Movement to attain the divine salvation. Sri Madhvacharya has explained in detail about Bhakti in his Anuvyakhyana. Sri Jayatirtharu, the author of Sriman Nyayasudha describes bhakti as {"Bhakti of the Lord Krishna is the incessant flow of love, which is preceded by the knowledge that He is possessed of unequalled unsurpassed, infinite, auspicious attributes, which exceeds many fold one's love to one's self, one's relations and belongings, which is not retarded or shaken by a thousand troubles and difficulties"} and further he adds his Guru's words ( Sri Madhva's) in telling the supremacy of bhakti in attaining the salvation. "Mukti is attained by such bhakti and in no other way". Further he adds profusely from Sri Madhva's quotes giving importance of Bhakti as { All the sadhanas (means like non-attachment with life, Study of philosophy etc) are intended for the promotion of bhakti and jnana. But bhakti is not a means to some other end(sadhana) as it is the culmination of all endeavors}

YOUR PARTICIPATION

The cost of the publication was estimated about 50 lakhs rupees. With the help of the various Madhvaites and the instituional support so far about 25 Lakh rupees has been collected.

With the desire to publish the work at the earliest Sri Vishvesha Tirtharu, of Pejavar Mutt has scheduled the release of the book in the first week of month of April 2005. With so much less time it has become necessary to raise funds for the book. So we approach your good self to participate in this jnanayajna and promote this noble cause.
