Guest guest
Forwarded message from Raghupathy..... Dear friends, Report on Dr Aralumallige’s Visit to Boston On the evening of Apr 14, 2005, Dr Aralumallige Parthasarathy arrived in Boston from Philadelphia. On 15th evening, the lecture programme started at Padmaja Raghupathy’s residence in Norwood. He addressed a packed audience on the topic of ‘Kanaka Purandara’. But he traced the origin of Dasa Sahithya to Sri Madhvacharya and described how Sreepadaraja, Vyasaraja and Vaadiraja contributed a lot in enriching it. He referred to various documents on Purandara and explained the mystical meaning hidden in Purandaradasa and Kanakadasa songs. In fact the first lecture itself triggered so much interest that the second day’s (Apr 16) programme in the morning at Sr Padmanabha Rao’s (of Infosys) provided new vistas. Dr Aralumallige spoke at length on the significance of KrishnaKatha and in particular Krishna’s advice to Uddhava and highlighted how we can and should learn to learn from the 24 gurus of nature. Uddhava Geetha was a remarkable piece of lecture programme. Smt Rama Sundaresan of Infosys was a completely transformed person after the lecture and she concluded that Dr Parthasarathy enlightened that mere intellectualism does not take a person anywhere! It is the spiritual strength that gives real Solace! By then, people who had heard him speak for the first time became so engrossed in his lectures that they started following him like honey-bees to all venues! On the evening of the 16th the Boston Chinmaya Mission at Andover had organized a special lecture on ‘Great Values for a Great India’. The lecture became an eye opener for many in the audience. Dr Aralumallige transported the audience to a totally different world. His understanding and projection of our heritage, culture and philosophical accomplishments were highly appreciated. The chief convener of the event, Smt Shobha Rampriya, acknowledged after the lecture that it was the most memorable lecture that she had ever attended at the Boston Chinmaya Mission premises. She requested that Dr Parthasarathy regularly write articles for the Chinmaya Mission journal for which she is the editor. She expressed a great desire for Dr Parthasarathy to return to Boston for a few more lectures before his departure to India. On the morning of Apr 17th, the Vridavan Preservation Society of Boston organized a lecture on the impact and influence of Bhagavadgita and Ramayana. Many in the audience were Americans but everyone listened with rapt attention to the 90 minute lecture delivered in natural settings on the green lawns of a middle school. Dr Aralumallige delighted the audience with his knowledge of various aspects of Ramayana. At the end, he acknowledged the great services of Keshavji, the organizer of the Vrindavan Preservation Society, who had recently visited India and started a full fledged medical center in South Tamilnadu, to help Tsunami victims. Raju Sharma, who helped organize the event, was also thanked. The real great exposition of Dr Aralumallige was at the famous Lakshmi temple in Ashland, Massachusetts. His lecture on the ‘Sense and essence of Ramayana’, appropriately on the occasion of Sri Rama Navami, coincided with the Rama Pattabhishekam at the temple. The President and Trustees of the temple sat through the entire lecture and felt that they rarely came across such an effective speaker, with the ability to delve deep into the subject. Dr Parthasarathy’s observations on certain aspects and characters in the Ramayana were thought provoking. The trustees of the temple felt so moved that they spontaneously offered to arrange for a few more lectures before Dr Aralumallige’s return to India. The temple committee honoured and felicitated him. Vidwan Sri Krishna Bhat, senior priest at the temple, invited Dr Aralumallige to his house and expressed great joy at the latter’s accomplishments. On the evening of Apr 18th, Dr Parthasarathy’s lecture at the residence of Lata Ganesh focused on multi-dimensional concepts of Bhakthi with various illustrations. To conclude, Dr Aralumallige Parthasarathy is on a one-man global mission taking Indian values all across the world. It is indeed extraordinary that he is doing this all on his own, without any formal sponsoring and external funding in the true sense of the term. All of us in Boston are grateful to him for being the spiritual ambassador who is touching the hearts of thousands of people all over the world.
