We have had a happier childhood which has enriched our memories. Happy memories beget happy dreams. How many of us have taken time off to realise that quite a few children around us are unfortunate not to have a normal childhood ? To provide poor and under privileged children with the necessary atmosphere of attention, affection ahd proper education, Srikrishna BALANIKETANA was guidance and leadership of Sri Sri Vishwesha Thirtha Swamiji of Sri Pejavar Mutt BALANIKETANA is being managed by Sri Krishna Sevadhama Trust comprising of concerned citizens of Udupi who are Businessman, professionals and philanthropists. It was significant to have this BALANIKETANA in Udupi, the famous pilgrimage centre of Lord Krishna on the west coast of India. Lord Krishna is always believed to have had a boisterous childhood filled with the frills of unusual birth place and subsequent grand, mischievous childhood, full of love and miraculous feats. The BALANIKETANA is situated in Kukkikatte village 2 kms away from Udupi town. It is housed in a spacious premises on a site of 3 acres with hilly, green background and peaceful atmosphere. The building of BALANIKETANA was constructed with the generous financial assistance of Late Dr. A.R. Acharya, a dynamic and philanthropic industrialist who was based in Mumbai, on behalf of Sri V.K.R. Acharya Trust. At the time of inception, BALANIKETANA had 15 children under its care. Now there are 41 children blooming out of the facilities provided to develop their mental and physical faculties. Children here are also oriented in gardening, art, craft and music. There is also a children's playing park. BALANIKETANA solicits generous contributions from the esteemed public for its sustained growth and development. Monthly maintenance cost of Balaniketana is about Rs.15,000/- Cost of looking after a child for one year Rs. 5,100/Cost of looking after a child for 1 month Rs. 425/- Expenditure of the home for a day Rs. 500/- Expenditure of home for half a day Rs.350/- BALANIKETANA proposes a concept of Shashwata Nidhi. Pauons are requested to donate a sum of Rs. 3,500/- each which will , be converted to Deposits. Monthly interest accrued will be utilized to meet a day's expenses of 1. When the cost of upkeep increases, respective donors will be approached for the required additional amount. When the purpose of maintenance is fulfilled, the Nidhi will be used for other developmental activities with the prior consent of the donor.
