Guest guest
Dear all, June 8th, Wed Jyestha Shukhla Shudda Dwiteeya is the Aradhane of a great Yati (in the Uttaradhi Matha lineage), namely Shri. Satya Sandha Theertharu. Many devotees believe he is the incarnation of Raghavendra Theertha (although this has been a debatable issue among other Madhva community members). However, that aside, he was a great Gyani and a Tapasvi. His Brindavana lies on the banks of the Tungabhadra river within the dense forests in a place called Mahishi, near Balegar Village in Shimoga district. It is considered a very Shrestha Tapo Bhoomi. It is not easily approachable and there is a small Matha established to conduct the daily rituals to the Brindavana. I have heard from my folks who recently visited this spot that there is a long stream of water some few kilometers away from the Matha which is actually Ganga river who accepted to stay at that place at the request of the saint, and also accepted a Marad Bhagana from him. An interesting annual festival or ritual happens there around Shri. Rama Navami time when all the Moola icons, idols, vessels, ornaments etc.. which are used in the Matha's worship by the presiding Swamiji are carried to that stream of water and cleansed there personally by him with assistance from his entourage. It is a very elaborate process and may take up a whole day's worth of work, i have heard. It is also said that there are huge rocks and stones embedded in the river bed (similar to the one built by Anjeneya to Lanka) which serves as a walkway so that one could reach the middle of the river where it is most pure. The Matha building however, i have heard is not in the best of shape due to lack of resources, and there are just enough facilites available to the preist and his family to meet basic needs. It may be a good idea to spread the word to all devotees so that they can come forward and assist in whatever way they can. I also heard that Shri. Satya Sandha Theertha has been attributed as a Siddi Purusharu, and many miracles happen even today and devotees wishes are fulfilled if they pay a visit to his Brindavana and pay their respects. May the Great Saint bless us all. In the Seva of Hari, Vayu and Gurugalu. Regards Raghu Discover Have fun online with music videos, cool games, IM and more.
