SRI RAGHAVENDRA SWAMiJI's ARAADHANA

(1578- 1671) (Mantraalaya)

Great men are born now and again in all parts of the world and in all walks

of life and when they depart they leave behind them a rich legacy for future

generations to enjoy. One such is Sri Raghavendra Thirtha, an avatar of

Prahlada and a saint of Sri Madhwachary's lineage.

*His works are:

1,Vedatraya Nivruti = 3

2.Panchassokta Vyakhyaana = 5

3.MantraaRtha Vivarane = 2

4.Upanishat prasthaana = 10

5.Sootra Prasthaana = 6

6.Geetha Prasthaana = 3

7.Puranaa Prasthanna = 1

8.DashaprakaraNa teeka

Vykhyaana = 10

9.Other vyakhyanna = 4

10.Swatantra GranthagaLu = 7

His main works are:

1) Parimala on Nyaya Sudha,

2) Tantra dipika on Bramha Sutra bashya.

3) Bhava deepa on Tatwa Prakashika

4) Tatwa Manjari on Anu Bashya

5) Gita vivriti on Gita Bashya

6) Khandartha on each of the ten Upanishad bashyas,

7) commentaries on Tatwa Sankyana and karma NirNaya

8) Chandrika Prakaasha on Chandrika

9) Nyaya Muktavali

10)PrathaH Sankalpa Gadya.

Sri Raghavendra Thirtha's greatness is manifested by a number of superhuman

incidents. The Swamiji is very much present in the VRINDAVAN. Some fortunate

Bhaktas have seen him and many other devotees have seen him in their dreams.

Hundreds of swamiji's devotees can testify from their personal experiences

that the swamiji has kept his word ever since, even to this day and that his

devotees are amply rewarded according to their Bhakti and deservedness. He

was the second to enter Brindavanam alive. Sat in Yogasana and as per his

instructions it was covered on Virodhi samvatsara Shraavana shuddha bidige

at Manatralayam at the site on the banks of the river, the Thungabhadra,

which he selected to be the very same spot where Prahlada had performed a

yajna in his days. The stone covered was a piece on which Sri Rama was

believed to have rested during his sojourn in Dandakaaranya. His mahima in

the Brindavan would last for 700 years. Appanacharya's Raghavendra stotram

is sufficient to understand the mahimas of great Raghavendra. Thousands of

books on Him are available in various languages.

In the Shree Raghavendra Stotram sloka 16 says if Japa is conducted by

chanting with devotion “ Sri Raghavendraya NamaH” all the desired wishes

will be fulfilled. The potency of this is enhanced if PraNava (Om) is

suffixed to this since Om signifies Sri maha VishNu, who is PoorNa and full

oof auspicious qualities Manadala Bhagwan VishNu.

When the word OM represents Sri MahavishNu,Sri Raghavendra represents Sri

Ramachanadra since al the kings that have come in the lineage of Raghu are

known as “ Raghavas” and among them, Indra (means one who is outstanding)

is Ramachanadra. So this mantra no doubt is also Rama Manatra by such

derivation.

The name Rghavendra could also be applied to vayu who is known as Jeevothama

Raghavh: Indra-swami yasya sa : Raghavendra: which means-one who has Sri

Rama as his Lord. That is Hanuman.

The name Raghavendra also connotes Sri Madhwacharya for Sri Vyasa Raja in

his work Tatparya chandrika calls Madhwa Bhashya as Hanumad Bhashya: if

derived RagO: AyaM; Raghavah: means, the Supreme devotee of Raghava is

Hanuman, and his avatara is Sri Madhwacharya. By such a derivation also, it

suggests Sri Madhwacharya and a host of other gurus that followed him.

So by chanting one Mantra Om Sri Raghavendra NamaH, you are invoking the

blessings of Sri Rama, Hanuman, Madhwacharya, Jayatheertha,Vyasaraya,

Raghavendra, and other Gurus.
