Guest guest
Namaskaras. It is inspiring to see how people are indeed getting concerned about practising Madhva philosophy in today's world. I would like to express my thanks to all the contributors to this thread of mails. There were probably too many issues interlinked with the basic discussion regarding the duties of a madhva grihastha. Probably each one of us chose one point/s and emphasized the same. Yes I completely agree that arm-chair philosophy is of little use unless we are able to apply it to our daily lives. Most of us recognize the importance of Shastra paatha and spiritual practice. But in Kali yuga it is increasingly difficult to find like-minded people and it becomes necessary to incorporate a lot of other things apart from spiritual practice in our lives. However, as i have heard from someone all these 'other' things are like big zeroes. Qualifications, awards, wealth everthing are just equal to zeroes. But the moment we add spiritual progress and jnyana which is equal to number 1 before all these zeroes, then all these 0's make a lot of sense. So not much harm in taking up a loukika job but unless it is prefixed with the interest and development of spiritual life, it is of no value. What I would like to stress is good association, Satsangha. Association with pure devotees, people who have placed shastra paatha for the development of bhakthi towards Vasudeva,as their primary goal in life, will help us go a long way in our own development of spiritual life. regular gatherings of such devotees at each other's homes, regular discussions will help us and our children understand that spiritual practice is not boring and only for the old and aged. Unless we ourselves and our children do not develop this higher taste we will be unable to give up other attractions of this world and continue with our anarthaas. I would like to request all the learned and sincere members of this forum to encourage all us youngsters to develop active spiritual life by contributing their practical suggestions on how householders can live outside the vidyapeetha and yet engage constantly in devotional service to Shri Hari and Gurugalu. Guest guest
If we have to capture Sri Madhwa tatva & adopt in our life, also need to have the little knowledge of unwanted(advaita) & for that discussion helps. I feel this thread was very useful. I have my thinking about the JOB taken up by Brahmins. I feel there is no job that can be differentiated as Vaidika OR Loukika. If some work is done i.e., mental or physical with the expectation in return (generally MONEY) it can be simply called as a job. Doing job by anybody without hurting any one(ahimsa way) have to be accepted by all in todays Kaliyuga. In the olden days kings were giving ashraya to the learned people. So brahmins were living with a daily life as per Brahmana Varna. As I know the Varnashrama dharma of Brahmin is Vedaparayana & anusthana with the help of Guru(with Hari Vayu anughruha using all the elements of Sri Madhwa Tatva) should be a DUTY (Kartavya) & not to be considered as job. It is advantage to study the Madhwa Shastra in the early life so one can follow as much as possible. Today it is people's rule & each citizen has to work for living. Here comes the problem and answer is nicely provided by pushkarni panchamukhi. Guest guest
Namaskara, We have seen lots of e-mail exchanges about the above topic. It is really good to have knowledge on these. I am very happy to announce that we have a group called Dhyana Sandhya which has an objective to get madhvas together every saturday for SATSANGA to learn stotras, know more about Madhwa philosophy & to create awareness of job opportunities available. When we started this satsangha in May-05 we were 4 & today we have around 20+ madhwas consistently attending from different part of bangalore. We are seeing atleast 2 new faces who come forward to learn stotras & to be part of this group every week. I just want to give you all a brief activities which we did in 5months-- 1)Learnt almost 60% of stotras which are there in Stotramalika compiled by Vyasanakere Prabhanjanacharya. 2)Completed 1st sarga of Sumadhwa vijaya, 2nd sarga was started last week. 3)We do go to our members home to do Vayustuthi Punascharana every fortnightly. This was started from Shravana Masa. Fortunately & by gods grace, we have Sri Kamalapur Gururajachar(currently a student of U.matha studing Nyaya Sudha) & Sri Venkateshachar a Sudha pandit qualified last year from U.matha to teach / guide us. We all should start these activities in all the localities so that we can strongly create awareness & learn madhwa philosophy. Recently Sri Sathyatma Teertharu & Sri Vidyadeesha Teertharu had come to bless us. Both the Swamiji's were very happy to know our activities & said they can give more pandits to get this going in a big way.
