The former is a reference to Sayana Madhava, the Advaitic commentator on the Vedas, and your confounding the two is not unique (`Madhva' is confounded with `Madhava', and `Anandatirtha' is confounded with `Anandagiri'). For what it is worth, the claim itself is also bogus in respect of Sayana, who also, like Madhva, was simply not concerned with questions of mathematics, as anyone who has any inkling of his work will readily grant. We likewise should note that there is no need to impute such discoveries upon the classical Vedantic scholars, who have their own independent weight and worth, and also no need to rob Newton, etc., of the credit which is rightfully theirs. I am not really sure who are being referred in this.ppt in the name of "Madhavacharya" , Vateshwaracharya" etc. I am not sure whether we as madhvas can be proud forthe information mentioned here.
