At Sri Rayar Mutt special pooja to ShodaSha Bhaahu Sri Narasimha

Devaru.

 

 

Story about Shodhasha Bahu Sri Narasimha Devaru of Sri Rayar Mutt.

 

Sri ViBhudendrathirtha performed Penance at Sri Ahobala Sri Nrusimha for 12

years. While giving “Arghya” at the the river the Bhavanaashini, in his hand

he got the Shodasha Bhaahu Sri Narasimha. Sri Bhuvanendra thirtha, the then

pontiff gave this to Sri Vysa Tatwagna to perform the Pooja.

 

(Sri Vyasa Tatwagna’s PooRvashram name was Iji Venkataramaarya. He did the

Pratishtaapana of Sri PraaNa devaru in front of Sri Raghavendra Brindavanam

at Mantralaya - (Page 30)

The day on which Lord Sri VishNu took the avathara of Sri Narasimha and

slashed HiryaNa kashapu, Prahalada’s father., in the evening ( neither day

nor night).

At Pradosha time, and in the evening, Sri Narasimha Swamy is worshipped and

Arghya is given:

 

ParithraaNaaya SaaDhoonaam

Dhyaatho VishNu Nrukesari|

GrihaaNyaRgham Mayadhaththa

SaLakshmi Nruhare Swayam||

 

Sri Narasimha Nakha Stuti composed by Sriman Madhwacharya consists of two

slokas, which eulogize the auspicious nails of Sri Lakshmi Narasimha to

protect. These are recited in the beginning and at the end of Sri Hari Vayu

Stuti of Sri Tivikrama Pandithacharya. This tradition is called “Samputa”

 

There is a view that the second sloka is not composed by Sri Madhwa for it

is not found in the manuscripts of Sri Hrishikesha Theertha a direct

disciple of Sri Madhwa who wrote “Sarvamoola: in Tulu language. But others

believe that Sri Madhwa composed them since when taken together they form

one complete sentence. This view seems to find favour with the researchers,

Dear Vaishnavas,

narasiMho akhilAj~nAnamatadhvAntadivAkaraH |

jayatyamitasajj~nAnasukhashaktipayonidhiH ||

 

This is mangalasloka by SrimadhAcharya in his " mAyAvAdhaKanda " . He has

clearly said " Aj~nAnamatha " that is " Adhvaitha " as " DhvAmtha " to indicate

darkness from YathArthaj~JAna.What is significance of Sri MadhvAchaarya

praying Narasimha rUpi NArAyana? Bhagavatha answers this doubt;

 

Hiranya Kashyapu is a true-follower of Adhvaitha. During his rule he had

abandoned worship of Devathas and Bhagavan .He had instructed his subjects

to worship him as Parabrahman. and this what Adhvaitha preaches.

jIva-braHmaikya vAdha.

Lord chose to appear from pillar to prove his Ishathva and his

sarvavyApthathva.So by coming out of pillar Lord proved to all who think

and act this world is " maya kalpitha " " miThya " that world is real and he is

karthara.

 

PrahallAdha represents all jivas who firmly believe that according to

scriptures jIva is always dependent on Lord.and his anugraha is very much

essential for removal of Bondage.and Lord signalled his acceptance by

placing his hand over Prahlada. and this is assurance from Lord he will

save and lift jIvas who surrender to him with Bhakti, and flawless

j~Jaana about his mahAthmE and true VairAgya.and that is possible only

through " madhvashAstra " . and the importance of Madhva shastra is very much

known to direct disciples of SrimadhAcharya. That is why they requested him

to add stotras praising him and his istadhevatha Lord Narasimha at the end

in " TaththvOdhyOtha " .

 

AnandhathIrTha pumsimhah mAyAvAdhidhithE suthAn|

vidhArya yukthinakharaih aprathIpO & bhibhaasathE||

 

jayathyAnamdha thIrThEShtadhEvathA narakEsarI|

vipAtithAj~JaanathamahkapAtaathyurumkRuthah||

 

and from this we understand that to get Lord Narasimhana anugraha

SrimadhAchAryara anugraha is required. and to get SrimadhAchAryara anugraha

prahlAdhAvathAri Sri RaghavEndhrara anugraha is very much essential. On this

auspicious day Sri Narasimha Jayanthi let us all pray Sri Raghavendra,

SrimadhAchArya and Lord Narasimha to remove " DhvAntha " and bless us with

j~Jana ,bhakthi and VairAgya.
