Guest guest
Dear All There are quite a few books on Vishnu Sahasranama with meanings as per Madhva thought. 1. VSN meanings in English by Shri TS Raghavendran in about 7-8 volumes. You can contact SMSO Sabha in Tiruchanur or SMSO Nidhi in Triplicane, Chennai for copies. 2. VSN of Sri Sathya sandha's commentary published in Sanskrit original from Srirangam. Out of print. I managed a xeroxed version in an exhibition. 3. VSN meaning in Tamil in brief based on Sri Sathya sandha's commentary by scholar Shri Nagaraja Bhaskar published by Vishva Madhva Mahaparishad. You may contact UM in Chennai. 4. Another one published from Chennai in English linking VSN to Sri Seshachandrikaacharya's commentary on Brihati sahasra (which is an elaboration of VSN). I purchased it from the stall Raghavendra Brindavana, Mulbagal matha at Chamarajpet. 5. Brihati sahasra commentary of Sri Seshachandrikacharya published by SMSO Sabha in Sanskrit. You can get it SMSO nidhi Triplicane. It also has sub commentary of Sri Bhagawantha Raya based on a version. The original I understand is at Chennai Oriental library. 6. There could be other commentaries at Sarasvati Mahal library at Thanjavaur. 7. I believe Mahabharatha Samshodhana Kendra is attempting to publish major VSN commentaries. 8. There is a need to bring a " handy " publication for people like us based on Sri Sathya Sandha in English. It can also include parayana/japa procedures (I understand there are different methods including one using katapayadi sankya- chanting totally 632 times for curing diseases and overcoming hurdles) Reg Sri Varahadevaru stotras: 1. There are Varaha stotras by Sri Vadiraja. You can download from dvaita.org 2. There are also dasarapadas on Sri Varaha. 3. Acharya's tantra sara also talks of mantras on Sri Varaha which require initiation. 4. Sri Varaha is not only to be worshipped for land hassles, but also for victory in difficult situations & ventures, shatru peeda, rahu planet related problems and Gnana. Srimushnam not far from Cuddalore in Tamilnadu is a sacred place for Madhvas. It has a Bhuvaraha temple, a swayamvaktha kshetra, with special rights of worship for Utharadi Matha Swaminah, with a theertha created by Sri Acharya by his divine powers to help a pregnant lady who wanted to offer bhikshah. There is an East Madhva Street there is a chatra (which has two Vadiraja mrithika brindavana-one was acquired based on dream instruction from Varaha pushkarani) where you can get free lunch thanks to a Madhva deshastha landlord of the past who bequeathed his assets for feeding Madhva pilgrims. Continues to this day. It is said that the landlord's wife donated her sthree dhana (jewels etc given at the time of marriage-traditionally the husband has no say on this) to the Lord which apparently adorns the deity today, a salagrama murthi. The temple also a sri Krishna idol worshipped by issueless couples. Even a visit to Sri Mushnam temple bestows children of their choice to couples. There is also an asvatha varaha under Madhvas to be worshipped before entering the main temple. 5. Proper worship of Sri Bhuvaraha was very popular with Madhvas till recently and has to be revived. I wd be interested in receiving any information on this subject, as also Srimushna Mahathmyam- I am looking for a copy. Guest guest
Namaskaragalu, There's a 3 or 4 book volumes on Sri VSN meaning published by Sri Palimaru Matha. But these books are out of print now. This is a wonderful book, that I've gone through by borrowing. If this book be republished, it would be great.
