Dear Haribhaktas,

Shri Vidyabhushanara Stanford Radio program: Wednesday Nov 8,

2006 from 7.30 -

8.30 AM (PST)

It will be a live music program of devotional and classical kritis by Shri

Vidyabhushanaru

with mirdanga and violin accompaniement from 7.30 - 8.30 AM.

The devotional kritis will be primarily in Kannada of Haridasa tradition for the

first 45 mins.

The interview portion of Shri Vidyabhushanaru by Jagannath Subbarao for 5-10

mins.

Ramesh Srinivasan (Mridangam)

 

Ramesh started learning Mridangam at a very young age & had his maiden concert

at age 9. His

formal Arangetrum was in 1984 in Chennai. In the same year, Ramesh achieved the

1st rank in the

preliminary AIR Music Competition in the entire Southern Region of India. His

initial teachers

were Shri Ramakrishnan in Jamshedpur & Shri Natarajan in Gujarat . Subsequently,

he came under the

tutelage of Sangita Kalanidhi Shri Vellore G. Ramabhadran for many years. He has

also had the

privilege of learning briefly from doyens Shri Karaikudi R. Mani & Dr. T.K.

Murthy. He has

performed at Music Academy and other Sabhas in Chennai on several occasions as

well as numerous

organizations in US including SIFA (South India Fine Arts) in the Bay Area. In

1986, Ramesh had

the unique honor & privilege of performing in the in the inaugural show of

Festival of India in US

in New York State at Syracuse . Prominent artists Ramesh has accompanied include

Sangita Kalanidhi

R.K.Srikantan, Sangita Kalanidhi T.K. Govinda Rao, Senior Violin Vidwan Parur

M.S.Anantharaman,

Chitravina Ravikiran, Smt. S.Soumya and Carnatica Brothers among others. Ramesh

has also performed

in Tala Vadya Ensembles with the renowned Mridangam Vidwan Yella Venkateshwara

Rao as well as in

JugalBandhi Concerts along with Chitravina Ravikiran, renowned Sitar Performer

Ustad Habib Khan &

Tabla Maestro Pandit Swapan Chaudhri. Ramesh has also provided percussion

support for

Bharathanatyam & Kuchipudi Dance programs and performed with the Bay Area Light

Music Band

'Surabhee'

 

Ramesh 's accompanying style is noted for its sensitivity to music and highly

proactive support,

which lends itself to making it a very rewarding experience for the main artist

as well as the

audience. He runs a percussion school " Percussion Art Center " in the Bay Area,

where he teaches

Mridangam to selective students at different levels. Currently, he is working as

a Software

Professional at Cisco Systems.

Shri Susheela Narasimhan on Violin

Sri. Susheela Narasimhan

Mr Narasimhan learnt violin from Sri H.K. Venkatram(disciple of Sri Lalgudi

Jayaraman) in Shimoga

for about a year and later on from Sri H.K. Narasimha Murthy for about 6-7 years

in Mysore. He has

played for many concerts in the bay area.

Mr. Narasimhan works as a Mechanical/ Thermal Engineer for Cisco Systems in San

Jose CA.
