Dear KrishNa bhaktas, Here is the VMS list moderation policy in response to the queries from couple of people. Moderators believe in an open and transparent policy. With this in mind, moderators are publishing the current moderation policy. Please give your feedback and we can fine tune the moderation policy based on your feedback if necessary. List exists for the benefit of all the readers and your feedback is very important.a. Basics: VMS list accepts postings in lesson format and announcements about events both in India and US. Extended Philosophical discussions should be done in the vms-philosophy list.a1: Events in India or US: Moderators believe people in the US will be interested to know about events in India and vice versa. Moderators solicit feedback on the value of this to the readers.b. Appeals for help: This will be limited in number. Moderators preference is to

limit to couple of days in a month, let us say last two days of the month. Only serious appeals that will add significant value to the madhva community will be entertained. Appeals will be designated as such in the subject heading so that readers may skip it if they wish. This feature has enabled VMS and others to raise funds for quite a few worth while projects. Moderators welcome feedback about this.c. Asking Directions for travel: Moderators agree this is not a good use of the list. Moderators have been lax in eliminating this. This will be eliminated from now on. Moderators are thinking of a email forum feature outside the list to address this kind of requests.d. Questions about availability of books: Moderators agree this is not a good use of the list. Moderators will set up a email forum feature outside the list to address this kind of requests.e. ISKCON literature: Moderators have allowed limited

announcements from Sri vaishNava and ISKCON sources previously. It looks some ISKCON based list members may be spamming the list. Some invalid and ridiculous posts from ISKCON have gotten through the moderation due to some errors. Moderators regret this error. These kinds of posts will be prohibited from now on. Moderators believe limited posts about other traditions are valid. Moderators believe mAdhvas have to know little bit about what is happening in related vedantic schools. Announcement of an ISKCON book does not mean endorsement or acceptance of everything written there. [Warning of Editorializing!: Moderators feel that the mAdhvas in general have not handled the relationship with ISKCON very well. That is a huge and interesting item for discussion in the VMS-philosophy list some day :). ] Moderators recognize that there will be difference of opinion on this front and welcome feedback from the

readers. Moderators wish to hear feedback about the Moderation policy. Please send feedback to the -owner so that the list is not cluttered with feedback messages. Moderators will publish summary of the feedback received.Hare KrishNa,NamaskAragaLu, Moderators naps rao <naps_rao wrote: Dear friends, Of late, we find that all kinds of messages are inserted in the VMS forum - ISKON activities, announcements of

discourses in India, appeals for help, asking directions for travelling, availability of books etc. VMS is in imminent danger of being swamped by these extraneous and some times illegitimate postings having nothing to do with its objectives. The Moderators have to bestir themselves and enforce some discipline. It may be a good idea to organise the postings in sections, but in addition, please stop ISKON from such postings as the following: B V Vishnu devatha maharaj on Feb 10 th advertising a book - which for all I know may be totally unacceptable to Madhvas. If this is not done, no one will take VMS seriously as a vehicle for the Dissemination of Madhva Tenets. NAPSRao Vasu MurthyEmail:vasu_murthy, thoughtsrlifeChange your thoughts, change your life.
