Guest guest
Varna, Gopalakrishna forwarded the mail from svbm As per the website http://www.mypanchang.com Akshaya Tritiya 2007 According to Dharmasindhu and nirnay-sindhu, the tritiya needs to prevail for more than 6 ghati that is 144 minutes in purvahan kala (before noon). If not, take the first day, so as per that rule (as there is only sparsha in certain cities of India, for example: Bombay Sun rises at 6:19 AM and tritiya prevails till 6:25AM so as per that rule, tritiya is not observed for 6 gatikas -- 144 minutes in Bombay, hence 19th.), Akshya Tritiya is on 19th for countries USA to India and countries beyond India, Akshaya Tritiya is on 20th April. The entire day is very good without any bad effects or rahu kalam or durmuhurtham. This is the auspicious day, it does not require any muhurtham to do anything. Every minute is very auspicious. The above rule is as per smartha paddati. But however, as per Madhwa siddhantha, four ghatikas before sunrise is considered as "arunodaya". This year, Akshaya thrithiya was yesterday (Friday 20th, April) for India & for USA, it was Thrusday, 19th, April. For sankalpa, the thithi, nakshatra, yoga, karana and the Vaara ruling one and a half hours before sunrise has to be used. However, as per the above website, the drik ganita calculation method is same for everybody (all siddhanthas) including Christians, Muslims (I think). All thithis' commencement time and ending time is universally same. Thithis are calculated based on the movement of sun and moon. It is kshyaya tithi for India which means this time, i.e. yesterday, (Akshaya) Thritiya was present during arunodaya kaala upto 6:30 am only. Best Wishes, Shobha Srinivasan svbm , "M.S.
