Please Register to be a Marrow Donor and Help Vinay! See below for locations to register so far: If

you can volunteer please let us know Vinay and his wife Rashmi www.helpvinay.org Our friend Vinay is 28 years old and has Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). He was diagnosed in November of 2006 and was informed this week that he is in need of a bone marrow transplant. About Vinay As many of you are aware, Vinay grew up in Fremont, California and attended Ardenwood Elementary, Walters Junior High, Kennedy High School, UC Berkeley before going on to getting a Masters and MD at Boston University. He was married in 2005 to Rashmi, an aspiring physician from Los Angeles, California. They have lived in Boston since the wedding. Vinay is known amongst his family and friends as being a kind, honest and loving human being. Please register at one of the following locations or contact Kristeen to schedule a drive. You can register at any of the location that is doing a bone marrow drive. Locations to Register: Sri Krishna Brindavan Sunday June 10 11am-3pm 7807 Shoup Ave West Hills, CA

Every year many South Asian patients are diagnosed with blood-related diseases. In order to survive, Vinay and many other patients need a bone marrow transplant from a matching donor. Nearly 30% of patients will find a matching donor within their families. The remaining 70% must search for an unrelated donor. Unfortunately, a very small percentage of South Asians (Indians, Pakistanis, Sri Lankans and Bangladeshis) are registered to be marrow donors. South Asians comprise approximately only 1% of the National Marrow Donor Registry. How Can you Help? Signing up is so easy. If you come up as a match for a patient, and donate some of your marrow, you could make a miracle happen! HOW TO REGISTER 1. Fill out a consent form 2. Provide a swab of cheek cells for tissue typing AM I ELIGIBLE? • Ages 18 - 60 • Be in good general health WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU MATCH? Marrow

Donation: PBSC Donation A small amount of marrow is collectedfrom your hip bone using a needle andsyringe. Anesthesia is used during thissimple hospital procedure. Afterwards, you may be sore for a fewdays to a few weeks, but normal activitymay be resumed. Your marrowreplenishes itself within a few weeks. You receive injections of Filgrastim for 5 days to increase the blood-forming cells in your bloodstream. You may experience flu-like symptoms for a few days. Blood is drawn from your arm using a sterile needle and passes through a machine that separates the blood cells. The remaining blood returns to your other arm. So, please come forward to register yourself and be the savior of precious lives. We all will pray the God Almighty whole heartily for the speedy recovery of Vinay and pray to give him good health. Thanks,
