Greetings,

I thank you profusely for the wishes and good words that you

have spoken about me getting honoured by President of India. I was really touched

by almost 1000 congratulatory mails flooding my mail box from so many people

many of whom are not known to me personally. I am sorry, I could not reply earlier

and I am forced to send a delayed group reply. I am sure all your wishes will

help us to do more service to our rich country. Before I close this mail I

would like to share a piece of story which Dr. Kalam had shared with me

In his own words –

I had a teacher called Siva subramania Iyer who used to

teach me mathematics and science in my school at Rameswaram and this story was

told to me by him, it is a story from the Mahabharata. One day before the great

Kurukshetra war, Arjuna who was reluctant to fight against his own kith and kin

was taken by Lord Krishna to a garden in the morning, the garden was full of

fragrance and people were enjoying the fragrance and children were playing

there, Lord tells Arjuna “look at these flowers they are so beautiful”.

Arjuna says “it is a treat to see this”. Again in the evening Lord

takes him to the same garden and asks him the question “what are you

seeing here now?” Arjuna replies “In the morning it was so

beautiful, the flowers had blossomed and there was so much of fragrance and

people enjoyed it and now everything is gone”. Lord tells Arjuna “the

flowers in the morning were so beautiful and it gave so much nice aroma in the

garden, it gave everything it had and by evening it died, Arjuna my friend,

flowers knew that they are going to die in the evening but still it gave every

thing it had in the morning and made people happy for few hours of its life. So

humans should also follow this, we should do everything that is good for others

and self and give all good things in this life, as no one can win the death so

better do our duty and die”

Thanks again,

With warm regards,

Ramachandra.B
