Dear Haribhaktas -

 

I got an update from my cousin about the last few hrs. of Shri Shri 108 Shri Vishwottama Teertha's yatra which was narrated to him by my chikkappa Shri Hari Narayana Vittala Dasaru who happened to be around during the sumuhurta.

 

The disciples of Shri Guru Govinda Vittala Dasaru were conducting a j~jAna satra to propogate the sahitya of Shri Dasaru. I believe this was going on for almost an yr or so probably once every month at different parts of Karnataka. The mangala mahotsava was scheduled at Soda kshetra as Shri Guru Govinda Vittala Dasaru was an ardent devotee of Shri Vadirajaru. The j~jAna satra started as scheduled and was going on in full swing. Many scholars including Shri Pushkarachaya of Tumkur, Shri Nippani Gururajacharya of Bellary, Shri Atmakur Anandateerthachar of Atmakur and many other direct disciples of Shri Guru Govinda Vittala Dasaru were at the venue.

 

In the moring hrs. Shri Swamiji graced the function and was in his full spirits. A garland was offered to Shri Swamiji at the beginning of the function. Usually Shri Swamiji hands it over to his shishyas once its offered to him but this time he said he would want to retain it on himself. In his anugraha bhashana Shri Swamiji stressed upon bringing out the inner aspects of Shri Guru Govinda Vittala Dasara sahitya and praised him to be an ardent devotee of Shri Vadirajaru and as a person who brought out many literary books propogating the rujutva & bhAvi sameeratva of Shri Vadirajaru.

 

After gracing the function during the morning session towards the end, he repeatedly asked the organizers to continue with the mangala mahotsava (which was a 3 day event) even in his absence. Probably he knew what was to happen. Many understood the meaning of this after Shri Swamiji left his mortal body.

 

He performed the pooja of Shri Hari, Shri Vayu & lAtavya chakravarti and towards the afternoon after teertha-prasada while offering the phala-mantraxate to devotees while only selected few were there, he left his mortal body reciting Shri Rama-nAma twice (or thrice).

 

Shri Atmakur Ananda Teerthachar checked his nADi and it was declared that Shri Swamiji has left his mortal body. Shri Swamiji was offered Shri Rajara mRuttika and he was made to sit in padmasana posture. As ordered & wished by him the j~jAna satra continued in the afternoon.

 

Junior Swamiji Shri Shri Vishwavallabha Teertha arrived around 7.30 pm and towards night performed the bhu-sthapana of the mortal body of Shri Swamiji.

 

It is indeed a great loss to all the devotees of Shri Vadirajaru. He was a representative of Shri Vadirajaru. As can be seen from history of Sode maTa, once evrey 200 years we happen to see a mahatkArya that proclaims the bhAvi sameeratva of Shri Vadirajaru. Once such event which I also happen to see and got blessed was the inauguration of Shri AkhyAna mandira. It was through Shri Vishwottama Teertha Swamiji Shri Vadirajaru made this possible. Undoubtedly Shri Vishwottama Teertha Swamiji is an AkhyAnOkta vyakti.
