Guest guest
Vishnu – for Beginners Book Review -Sri Raghavendra Rachuri -Review By –Mohan Chippagiri A book is written by Sri Raghavendra Rachuri a Sudha pandit with simple language with illustrations by Sri K M Seshagiri . An artist with great vision and themes by Sri Chandranath char. This published by Vishwa Madhwa Maha Parishat of Bengaluru. The benedictions are given by none other Sri Uttaradi Math Peetadipathi Sri Sri 108 Sathyatma Teertha Swamji and blessings from Sri Guttal Rangacharya Kulapathi of Sri Jayatherta Vidya Peeth of Bengaluru . Generally we all see the books in the form of story but this book is look like a drama. He has taken the main theme as “Vishnu” he has weaved the story in the form of dram by introducing characters. The narration is excellent and magnificent. I think while he is writing this book Lord Vishnu is with him to write like this. This book contains 17 sections each section has separate multiple choice questions, points to remember , Vocabulary and which will help the children between age group of 8 to 15 years to answer these questions. The Story starts with a invocation. The meaning of invocation is like this “Salutations is Narayana who exceeds every one……. In Chapter I the author deals Vishnu-who? In Chapter II he deals with 1000 names for Vishnu and their importance and chapter III he deals with the meaning of the Name of Vishnu. In chapter IV when author wants to tell that Vishnu is the Omnipresent The example provided with salt and water the example clearly explains the simple way about the omnipresent of Vishnu. In Chapter V Vishnu the Goal he has given the small example about the temporary happiness. The KM Sheshagiri art depicting the frog is resting under the shade of king cobra to escape the hot summer is lively. The author also describes about life cycle also. In chapter the process of Vichara. He has compared with the vichara of Vishnu and vichara with equilateral triangle. Under sravana all forms of Vishnu are equal and all sides of equilateral triangle are equal .Under dhyana –contemplating the equality of the forms of Vishnu with equilateral triangle with equal sides. In Chapter VII the author explained about Sadgamas he compared other texts he finally concluded that Vishnu is supreme. In this chapter he also explained the meaning of prasada , Saksatkara, Dhyana , Manana, Sravana etc., A picture showing about all these concept is mind-blowing. In chapter 8 the author describes about Vishnu Why worship him. In chapter 9 Vishnu How to worship him. Iam amazed while reading the book once again here I want to mention that here is strong force sitting in his brain to write this book Iam not exaggerating the work. The examples are simple and easy to grasp. The author explained various types of prathimas The author also explains the essence lighting the lamp. Significance of offerings to lord Ringing the Ghanta etc., and also Pradaksina and also tell us how many pradaksinas to put to different deities. In the chapter Vishnu the only God In this chapter the author explained about the God and the devathas according to English word God indicates The Paramathma i.e., Lord Vishnu is the only one God . He proves that Brahma and Siva and Vishnu are not same . the author is quoted one example in that Siva and Brahma with iron balls. When iron balls are cold when we touch them nothing will happen to us where as when we heat them and we try to touch our hands will burn. The heat in the Iron balls is because they contain fire in them In the same way both don’t have the power to create or destroy Vishnu is the fire present in them and they will perform their deeds according to the wish of Vishnu. Finally he concludes the chapter YES –Vishnu is the real energy behind the creation and destruction of this Universe. Vishnu – The destructor In this chapter he dealt with the destruction. He will destruct this whole Universe here destruction means the lord wont kill us. He will only make tired souls to sleep just like crying baby will be put to sleep in cradle by the mother because souls don’t have rest they all always moving from one body to another . Other acts of Vishnu are protection, control, knowledge, Ajanna, Jnana,Bandha, Moksha. Vishnu as a controller and Vishnu as a multiple forms and Lord Vishnu is free from all defects . I have read many books of many authors For the first time Iam writing a review for this book I have enjoyed while reading the book and writing this review I had a chance to read this book again and again.
