Guest guest
Namaskara, As suggested by elders, please follow the procedures as follows:- Some rules and durations may differ as per your family Sampradaya. 1) DO NOT EAT OR DRINK ATLEAST 1 hour prior to start of Grahana and during the entire Grahana period. This includes young children, feeding mothers, pregnant women and people of all ages. 2) At the beginning of Grahana Kala, take a head bath with " WHATEVER CLOTHES YOU ARE WEARING " . Do not remove them during bath. After the bath, put the wet clothes aside, and wear your Madi. 3) Keep Akki (rice) and some coins in front of God as initial namesake Dana items. For solar eclipse, substitute rice with wheat. You should give these as Dana later on the next day to a suitable Brahmin Dampatti at an auspicious time and place (temple, home, etc) if possible. 4) Chant the following Manthra's during the Grahana (ie; Moksha Kala). IndrOna LO Danda Dharascha KAlah | PAshA YudhO VAyu Dhanesha Rudrah || Madjanma RukshO mama rAshi samstah | kurvantu Chandra(*) Graha dosha shAntim || (*) indicates replace Chandra with Surya for solar eclipse. YOOSOW VAJRATHARO DEVA: ADHITHYANAM PRABHU : MATHA : SAHASRA NAYANA CHAKRA : THRAILOKKA YANI BHOOTHANI STHAVARANI CHARANICHA : BRAHMA VISHNU ARKKA RUDHRASCHA NAHANTHU MAMA BHADHAKAM. 5) After the Grahana has ended, take a head bath again and wear fresh clothes. 6) You can wash and dry the Madi for next days Nitya Pooje as well. 7) Give Danaa as per your capability the next day. Naham Kartha Harih Kartha. In the service of Hari, Vayu and Gurugalu. Regards Rao ______________________________\ ____ Never miss a thing.
