Guest guest
Dear friends, I think it would be in order if a brief report without too many superlatives is made for the information of all. The period 25 th to 30 th of this month was memorable for many reasons. We had notched up many achievements - but my only regret is that the dates seem to have been unsuitable for my MYP friends. Let me at least mention what they have missed out! 1. We have released 2 good publications. Our Sarvadhari panchanga printed with 3000 copies ( a record for us) got sold out fully thanks to the faith and trust that people have in us, along with the great wealth of information in it, which was universally appreciated and its heavily subsidised price - Rs. 10. We were placed in a position of having to refuse many buyers, as it was not possible to print additional copies in time for Ugadi. We hope to introduce further improvements and hopefully supply this vital need for Sadachara in futre years with even greater success.Sri Suvidyendra Tirtha of Manthralaya Matha released on Sunday the book containing all the Kirthanas on Sri Vyasaraja by our Dasa parampare. His eloquent explanation of the greatness of Sri Vyasaraja giving reference to eulogies about him by Aparoksha Jnanis was wonderful and made one realise that Sri Vyasaraja was an extraordinary person and the only real students to study his compositions could be the gods themselves. 2. The Jnana Sathra series went of very well. The following noted scholars took part: Sarvashri D Prahladacharya D Ramachandracharya Vijayasimhacharya Prabhanjanacharya Sathydhyanachar katti Haridas Bhat Anandatirthacharya Nagasampige N Venkateshacharya Pushkaracharya Sathyanarayanacharya Nagarajacharya Tirumala Kulakarni Venkatesha kulakarni. Each of them gave a pravachana on different aspects of his life, compositions and personality. Though the samithi is starved of resources and could not even offer them the traditional honours, they all accepted our shortcomings and poor hospitality with grace and consideration, and delivered great pravachanas as a tribute to Sri Vyasaraja. The samithi is highly thankful to all these scholars and hope that they will continue to cooperate with us in simialr Jnana karyas. Some good suggestions have emerged guiding the samithi for their future couse of action. I would like to indicate these also with out present plans. i. Sri Katti suggested that we should try to hold seminars on specific subjects based on Sri Vyasaraja's compositions, when a greater depth of interaction as well understanding by the audience can be attempted. It is avwery good idea, which we will take up. Before that however, we can also conduct a program for a full day or two dedicated to one of the famopus compositions of Sti Vyasaraja. We will announce our future plans step by step after firming then up with the arrangements and availability of the scholars needed. We have the general assurance of all scholars of their cooperation. ii. Sri D Prahaladacharya suggested that we should seriously promote the cause of study of Sri Vyasaraja;s compositions - specially as they can only be seriously studied after the full study of Tatvavada which normally culminates in Nyayasudha. The Samithi has announced sepcial prizes for those who are selcetd as best students for the year in the study of Vyasathraya. We would need to build a stronger resource base, before supporting such studies by incentives like scholarships. iii. Sri Suvidyendra Tirtha suggested that we should try to publish a book on Nyayamrutha for beginners - which should give a succinct, but accurate view of the entire compsotions, but which should be couched in lanhuage easily understood by persons without the benefit of Shasthra studies. We have promised to implement his suggestions before enxt year. To expedite the process, we should offer some financial incentives - say Rs. 20,000 or so to potential scholars who could contribute the material and also rasuie funds to bear the cost of printing. The whole project may come to around Rs.1 lakh. iv. There were suggestions that such functions should be held in other parts of the City, Mysore and other places etc. The saimithi will be glad to do its bit, but local initiatives, infrastructural support as well as funding is essential for such activity.
