Guest guest
The New Satyadhyana Vidyapeetha – Rise of the Phoenix. The temple complex of the Satyadhyana Vidyapeetha, Mulund, the premier institute propagating over the last three decades the Vedic culture in general and Maadhwa philosophy in particular was, last month, demolished to make room for a more spacious institute to cater to the increasing spiritual and other needs of the maadhwa community, the devotees and others in the metropolis. The Vidyapeetha, which was founded in 1956 by the late Vidvan M. R. Gopalacharya, was subsequently built in 1973, taking into account the projected growth of the institute for about a century. The actual growth, however, out-paced the anticipated growth in terms of the number of students undertaking the Vedic studies, devotees visiting the temple, performance of religious sacraments and rites and discourses conducted creating, in less than three decades, an acute shortage of space and the resultant over-crowding. Added to this was the Vidvan's Charisma that continued to attract increasing number of devotees to visit the temple that warranted a fresh look at the institute and in April 2006, a committee of experts was appointed to look into the matter. The committee, on examination, found that the extensive use of the space had far exceeded the permissible tolerance limits of the structure setting in the process of some deterioration thereby. It opined that the unabated use of the space would pose a safety threat to the structure in the not too distant future, even if the structure was strengthened. The committee was unanimous in its opinion for a new structure with the advantage of higher FSI presently offered by the BMC that, it said, could take care of the problem for many more decades to come. Therefore, it was decided to go in for new spacious complex. The proposed complex to be built at an estimated cost of Rs. 9 Crores will have a built-up area of 53,000 sq. feet. It will include the basement, main hall with the idols of Lord Venkateshwara and other deities and Nava Vridavana. Other four floors will have facilities like medical center, conference hall, library, student's hostel etc. A sheet showing artist's impression of the proposed complex is attached herewith. A brochure showing details of facilities of the complex and also containing an appeal for generous donations is being forwarded separately. As a matter of fact, the Satyadhyana Vidyapeetha was Shri Satyadhyana Teertha's vision which, Vidvan M.R.Gopalacharya, his disciple, actualized. Shri.Satyadhyana Teertha Swamiji firmly believed that an institute built with donations collected from ordinary people and willing devotees would have a very long life. Vidvan Gopalacharya followed his mentor's principle in to-to, when he translated his vision into actuality, when he built the institute in 1973. The new institute now going to be built would be a further extension of Shri.Satyadhyana Teertha Swamiji's principle. Therefore, on behalf of the Satyadhyana Vidyapeetha, I appeal to all the readers to contribute their mite to the noble cause of construction of the new complex and help the Governing Council of the Satyadhyana Vidyapeetha to put into practice the principle Shri. Satyadhyanthirth swamiji so firmly believed in, all his life. The donations are exempt under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act. Donors may draw cheques/drafts in favour of " Satyadhyana Vidyapeetha " and forwarded to the Satyadyana Vidyapeetha, Dr Ambedkar Road, Mulund (West), Mumbai 400 080. As regards overseas donors, the Vidyapeetha has already approached appropriate authorities for permission to allow the inward remittance in foreign currencies. The permission is expected in a matter of weeks. Details of how the remittance is to made will be mailed to the readers. Till such time the permission is received, over-seas Maadhwa Bandhus may send donations in Indian currency through their relations and friends in India. With the blessings of Hari, Vayu and Gurus, the new Satyadhyana Vidyapeetha will be completed with no deviation from the principle followed by the Vidvan , and will, like the phoenix, have an immortal state very long life. Readers,, let us render a small service " alilu seve " to the re-actualization of the vision of Shri Satyadhyana Teertha Swamiji, who strove to propagate the Madhwa philosophy to the world all his life and Vidvan. M. R. Gopalacharya, who walked in his shoes, till his last. With best regards, Ramchandra. Tammannacharya. Gutti. D.A One sheet. P.S. The accompaniment showing the artist's impression of the proposed complex being in excess of the permissible mailing limit is not attached. The impression is, however, loaded on the following link.
